Dear Friends,
We come to you today to highlight a noble venture for which we need your help and support: providing much needed health care to the impoverished areas of India.

VT Seva recognizes that a family and society cannot be economically healthy unless they are physically healthy. Towards the goal of improving the physical health of those who otherwise cannot afford, VT Seva has been conducting numerous health care camps/projects and as a consequence is saving many lives.
Between 2004 and 2010 VT Seva has conducted the following camps, which have benefited thousands of people in India:
1300 General Health Camps, 900 Eye/Vision Camps, 1000 Dental Camps and 2500 Health Education & Cancer Prevention Camps, as well as numerous Health Awareness Walkathons.
Recently, VT Seva has begun cancer awareness and screening projects in India. Sadly, the incidence of cancer is on the rise in India. In addition, advances in screening and treatment have not trickled to the impoverished in India, especially in rural and underserved areas. According to the National Cancer Registry Programme, the estimated number of breast cancer cases alone in India in 2010 will be over 90,000. VT Seva has held numerous highly successful cancer awareness and screening camps in India. These camps have been held thus far in Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Karimnagar, Vijayanagaram and Warangal as well as Chennai and Bengaluru. Hundreds of VT Seva volunteers go from door to door gathering information for cancer pre-screening and also educate the populace about cancer symptoms and prevention. Those people who are felt to require further investigation are then offered appropriate testing, such as mammography and colposcopy. Thus far, even with limited resources, thousands of cancers have been diagnosed and hundreds of lives have been saved through cancer treatments.
VT Seva’s goal is to diagnose cancers in its earliest stages, thereby offering the patient the best chance at recovery. To date, VT Seva’s screening efforts have centered on breast cancer, cervical cancer, and head and neck cancer though in the future our goal is to expand screening efforts towards the early detection and treatment of lung and prostate cancer as well.
VT Seva’s mission is to reach and serve everyone who needs assistance; unfortunately, there are many physical and logistical barriers that prevent the poor from seeking help. Our goal is to reach out to those communities that do not have the means to seek medical help. VT Seva’s latest health care initiative is to acquire a Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory that would travel to rural and underserved areas where health care is virtually non-existent. This Mobile Laboratory would be equipped with the basic tools health care professionals need to provide care, including general medical and dental health equipment as well as cancer screening equipment. We need your help to make this happen. Specifically, we are seeking donations to acquire the following equipment:
- General X-Ray Unit
- Colposcope for cervical cancer screening
- Digital Mammography Unit
- Autoclave
- General Ultrasound Unit
- General Medical Examination Equipment
- Dental Examination Equipment
- EKG unit
- Stretchers & Computers
Our Indian-American community has been blessed with success. we owe much of this success to our homeland.
India is rapidly growing and changing and improving, yet countless millions in India still live in difficult conditions and face seemingly insurmountable odds on a daily basis. The thousands of volunteers at VT Seva, under the guidance of HH Swamiji, work day and night to help the less fortunate in India. We ask your assistance now – please join us in this noble cause and give back to your Motherland. Your donations are tax deductible and will have a direct impact on numerous lives and families. Please help us achieve our goals and improve the lives of millions of underprivileged in India. Together we can make a difference for them!
Your Support Is Our Strength To Serve!
Sincerely,
VT Seva Health Care Committee
