VT Seva ATL Youth Lauches AP Tutoring Program for Rising 9th Graders

🎉VT Seva Atlanta Youth Launches AP Tutoring Program for Rising 9th Graders🎉 📍June 15th - July 27th As AP classes grow increasingly rigorous, many students - especially those taking their first AP course struggle to keep pace with the demands. To ease this transition and set students up for success, VT Seva Atlanta Youth has launched an AP Tutoring Program on June 15th for 6 weeks program starting with AP Human Geography. 📗✌️ The initiative is led by Shaina Mereddy and Manya Mereddy, two accomplished sophomores who each scored a perfect 5 on the AP Human Geography exam. With a passion for teaching and a strong foundation in the subject, they have been conducting weekly tutoring sessions designed to provide incoming freshmen with a head start.♥️ The program consists of full unit, diving deep into key concepts using a blend of high-quality resources - including the official AP textbook, real-world case studies, College Board materials, and Heimler’s History videos. 📚👍 To reinforce learning, students take weekly assessments and receive feedback on their tests. In the final week, students completed both a review exam and a final mock exam. These assessments not only measured their progress but also built confidence and exam-readiness. Atlanta youth felt very good as they not only helped their friends in gaining confidence in the AP human geography exam but also raised $500 for the education of their Nethra friends in India!💕

Total 13 youths from elementary to high school participated in the workshop. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 of the workshop was all about getting comfortable with the basics of sewing while having a ton of fun! We began with an introduction to sewing, where students 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 💟. To wrap up the day, we dove into toy making by stitching together different parts of a *dinosaur*🦖. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 🧵. On 𝘿𝙖𝙮 2 of the workshop, we took a creative detour and learned how to make 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 🌸 using basic embroidery techniques on felt. It was a great hands-on session where everyone practiced stitches like the 𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 to create delicate floral designs. Later, we returned to our felt work and made *mushroom* 🍄 houses out of felt- each one unique and full of character. VT Seva Atlanta proudly organized a special yoga session on International Yoga Day, June 21, 2025, to promote the physical and emotional well-being of our members. The session was led by our certified yoga instructor, Swamy Vendra, who guided participants through proper techniques for various asanas and pranayama practices. This event was part of our ongoing wellness initiative — weekly Saturday morning yoga sessions, which have been held consistently since January 1, 2025, and continue to this day. These sessions have become a source of renewed energy, inner peace, and community connection for all participants. We are grateful to Swamy Vendra and all our dedicated members for embracing this journey toward better health and mindfulness. 🧘‍♂️🌿✨
