Medicine(s) & Devices Drive: We are organizing an ongoing drive to collect medications/ samples/ drugs with a shelf life of six months as well as medical devices
(Normally medicines with a shelf life of 6-9 months are removed quickly and or given away to non-profit organizations here and abroad). We will ship them to India VT Seva – Free medical Camps to donate these drugs and medical devices to people who cannot afford to pay for themselves.
Bone Marrow Drive:
We are organizing bone marrow drive during the event. There is no cost to you and your marrow will be naturally replenished. Initially a small sample of blood is taken to determine if you match. All healthy individuals between ages of 18 to 60
please sign-up to get tested. If you have been tested before, you do not have to do it again.
If you are African Americans, Hispanics, South Asians, Asian/Pacific Islanders and American Indian/Alaska Natives, we need your help to save the lives of leukemia patients most of whom do not have a medical cure.
Leukemia and other fatal blood disorders happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. It is an equal opportunity disease. Scientists do not know what causes leukemia, but it usually proves fatal unless a matching donor is found.
The odds of finding a match is 1 in 20,000 to 1 in 100,000. Large number of donors from the same race increases the chance of a patient finding a match for a life-saving blood stem cell/ marrow transplant. If your tissue type matches a patient, you will have an opportunity to save a life.
Thousands of patients are diagnosed with leukemia and other fatal diseases the can be cured by matched blood stem cell/marrow transplant. Please make a
moral commitment to donate and save lives.
