Shakerag Park Cleanup 2023 VT Seva June 2023
Atlanta
June 25, 2023 at 12:00:00 AM
Shakerag Park Cleanup 2023 VT Seva Northview youths took the initiative to adopt Shakerag park and lend a hand in cleaning it, bringing Atlanta one step closer to being clean, green, and serene! This park clean up event attracted over 40 Atlanta youths, who all teamed up to pick up trash laying around. Atlanta youths once again went above and beyond in exhibiting their leadership skills by showing how deeply they cared for their very own mother nature. The third meeting for the VT Seva exhibit event also took place at this park. This exhibit was an opportunity to showcase everything that the Atlanta Branch of VT Seva accomplished over the past few years to the highly respected Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, CEO of VT Seva, who graced Atlanta with his presence on July 19th, 2023. Youths expressed a deep interest in being a part of displaying what all VT Seva Atlanta achieved to his holiness. Groups were finalized regarding who would present on what, ranging from the highly successful blankets for the homeless initiative to the high impact summer camp for younger children to make productive use of their summer. Overall, this park clean up event was a hit!

Meal Packing Event
Cary
November 18, 2023 at 12:00:00 AM
On November 18th & 19th, VT Seva Cary volunteers participated in a meal packing event organized by Rise Against Hunger in the journey to end World Hunger. More than 70 VT Seva volunteers ages ranging from 5 years old to adults, were able to give their time and be part of packing 250,000 meals this past weekend. It was eye opening to many volunteers to know how far their service will go and the impact this meal makes in the lives of less fortunate kids in some parts of the world. Kids go to school because they get the meal in school. If no meal…no education, if no education…no hope. It was an amazing experience to our volunteers to be part of this great cause that brings hope in the lives, all that starts with a meal. Rise Against Hunger reach out to remote, last-mile communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher on the Global Hunger Index. They empower local communities and providing meals through local schools to incentive attendance and enable kids to obtain education.

Brown Bag Packing
Bay Area
September 7, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM
In the brown bag packing activity, a small group of people come together to make and pack bags filling them with different items such as chips, drinks, fuit, etc. Within these groups, the value of teamwork is built, and it's true importance is shown. After these bags are packed, they go to a homeless shelter to help those in need. This activity really helps in helping our community, as there are many people who cannot afford nutritious food. Packing brown bags for shelters help those that are not as fortunate as us, and makes their futures a little brighter.
