Green Initiative

Bay Area

October 31, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM

For one of VT Seva Bay Areaโ€™s Environmental Services events in October, we had our first green initiative activity! Youth volunteers are encouraged to partake in conservative measures through โ€œReuse, Reduce and Recycleโ€. For example, youth volunteers can conserve by cutting down their showers, planting drought-resistant trees, not overusing lights, walk/bike as much as possible, and recycling their materials!

Youth Led Summer Camp

Boston

August 13, 2020 at 12:00:00 AM

Despite these troubling times, children continue to grow in intelligence and creativity. Through this online camp led by youth volunteers, we helped foster this growth through various lessons and activities, keeping kids engaged. Each week consisted of a lesson plan with an interesting theme and subject. To name a few, we had a research week, fiction writing week, science week, and paper crafts week. Students from grades 1-5 were all taught according to their individual levels so that all students were able to get the same learning experience. Our youth volunteers not only led and taught this camp but promoted the camp, created the entire curriculum, and performed administrative duties. Both the students and the youth volunteers gained valuable information from this experience that can help them with their future endeavors.

Brown Bag packing

Bay Area

July 23, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

In the brown bag packing activity, a small group of people come together to make and pack bags filling them with different items such as chips, drinks, fuit, etc. Within these groups, the value of teamwork is built, and it's true importance is shown. After these bags are packed, they go to a homeless shelter to help those in need. This activity really helps in helping our community, as there are many people who cannot afford nutritious food. Packing brown bags for shelters help those that are not as fortunate as us, and makes their futures a little brighter.
