Amongst many services that VT Seva Atlanta volunteers believe that Women Health is one of the key focus area. After all, ‘When a woman is healthy and happy, her family can rise up to meet its purpose’. Thus, VT Seva team collaborated with Telangana Team on Bathukamma event on Oct 21st and launched ‘Women Empowerment’ initiative to assist our young women for physical, emotional, and financial well-being. Back at the booth plants were also being sold, face painting was offered as well, volunteers painted whatever the kids asked for. Tule Ponds

Bay Area

May 30, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

Tule Ponds at Tyson Lagoon is a "Wetland in the City." This innovative area is used for flood control but also as a wildlife sanctuary for the many species that live in an urban environment. Since the land is 17 acres it is being restored to the flora of a San Francisco Bay area of at least 1 million years old. Native trees, shrubs, and flowers are being introduced which then bring some of the native fauna. Volunteers at Tule Ponds participate in many activities such as native plant installation (planting trees, shrubs or wildflowers), non-native plant removal, trash removal from ponds and trails, spreading mulch and chips around plants and on trails and much more!

Green Initiative

Bay Area

April 1, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

As a part of Environmental Sustainability effort and Climate Change Action , Volunteers took apart if the Green Initiative by taking shorter showers, conserving energy, etc. one volunteer wrote “During the green initiative activity, I take measures to reduce my carbon footprint and save as much of our resources as possible. Some ways I do this is by using natural light instead of turning on the lights in my room when daylight is still there, using the bus to go to and from school everyday rather than using personal transportation, and buying locally sourced food from stores such as Lucky's and Safeway rather than other food. Although these measures taken are small, they eventually add up in the long-term and end up reducing the amount of waste I produce in regards to the resources I have access to. I find these actions really important for our environment and our future so I do them gladly.”
