Hello, my name is Madhavi Vivek and I am a senior at Liberty High School in Washington and I am currently applying for a Computer Science major. In my free time I like to swim, travel, and code with friends to create apps, two of which are available in the app store.

I started volunteering with VT SEVA during 8th grade and have been with them for the past 4-5 years. Since a young age, I have been set on helping my community in any way I can offer. After moving to Washington, I joined VT SEVA when it first started the Youth Board program where I worked as a Treasurer for some time.

At VT SEVA, I was able to aid my community through many projects such as food packing at Northwest Harvest, UTSAV annual events, donor calls, and other programs to raise funds for good causes like supporting blind student education in India.

This year, I was able to create and lead Virtual Reading for Kids, a program to help the issues that COVID-19 has created such as the lack of childcare services. Each week we hosted two hour long reading sessions where volunteers of all ages came to read short stories to young kids from across the nation online. I really enjoyed this experience as I got to support an important niche of affected families during the pandemic despite social-distancing obstacles.
