On Friday May 5th, Pooja Angirekula, Smitha Pandey, Nirupa Chowdary Gangavarapu, Ramya Sree Payaniappa, Sruthi Ranga and a couple of adult volunteers participated at the Kite Festival event organized by the Buffalo Grove Park District. Volunteers helped facilitate activities for children during the event, as well as help with organizing, explaining, and demonstrating directions for crafts and table activities. After the event ended, volunteers helped clean up supplies and equipment.

VT Seva successfully concluded its 2nd yearly Table Tennis & Badminton Tournaments this year, on April 30th, 2023 at Sparc Arena Sports & Recreation, in Novi, Michigan. It was amazing fast-paced game day with both Table Tennis and Badminton Tournaments running parallelly on the same day! With 95 players playing 160 games in 7 different formats - Girls Singles, Girls Doubles, Boys Singles, Boys Doubles, Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles - Badminton and Open Table Tennis games. We had 20 volunteers who bolstered our activities and 2 sponsorships for the event!! There were various promotional activities done at Sparc before the tournament where some of our adult and youth volunteers participated.

VTS Denmark started Card Making project for the Henry County graduating Highschool Seniors. They will be making congratulatory cards for the graduating seniors in Henry County's Kids in Transition program, which supports these homeless/fostered students transition to becoming more independent as they move beyond high school. Last year, they made 60 special cards. This year, they made 50 cards for making seniors’ day a little bit more special for them. Kudos to all the Denmark youths for making motivating and inspirational cards for the homeless / fostered seniors of Henry county.

On April 30, 2023, Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple was abuzz with excitement as students of all ages came together to celebrate Earth Day through a science fair competition conducted by VT Seva Houston. We want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing judges Sriram Pudugramam, Priyavrat Shukla, Milind Kulkarni, and Amit Sharma for devoting their time and for their excellent mentorship! The event started off with an informative and interactive presentation from Sewa International regarding disaster preparedness which got the kids in the zone! This was followed with a diverse range of captivating posters, costumes, experiments, PowerPoint Presentations, and short films. Students prepared their creative presentations in the weeks before the event and presented them to the judges on the event day. The science fair turned out to be a tremendous success, inspiring a new wave of enthusiasm among these future innovators and scientists. Congratulations to Sachin Palla, Raman Srinand, Samhith Gande, Akshra Badam, Abhinav Mudiya, Varnikproya Vazrala, Abhiram Kandala, Shrithan Chokkarapu, Srilakshminath Madasu, Srilalitha Madasu, Saathvik Kamma, and Srinithya Tirumala for winning prizes at this competition! Proceeds from the VT Seva Plant Sale fundraiser conducted during the event will go towards supporting a greener environment!

VT Seva Minneapolis volunteers were joyous to collaborate with "Sharing and Caring Hands" today! The Sharing and Caring Hands organization strives to help by providing over 157,000 meals each year to people in need. Our volunteers supported to donate Pasta, Steamed Vegetables, Vegetable and Fruit salad, Cookies A huge thank you goes out to all our volunteers who signed up and donated several food items to be a part of this great cause!

Atlanta VT Seva team has organized a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) session on April 30th, 2023 at the Cumming Library in Forsyth County. The main objectives behind this CPR session are to share CPR insights, provide hands-on training, and assist youths and adults in practicing CPR. This CPR session started with an Atlanta VT SEVA 2021-2022 Initiatives & Activities video exhibiting various service projects in 2022 and 2023 by the Atlanta VT Seva team. This CPR session was facilitated by Dr. Jawahar Gazzala, Atlanta Heart Specialist, Cardiologist by profession, and Sumir Nemani, GA Tech CPR-certified student. Dr. Jawahar first shared the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR guidelines, dos and don’ts of CPR, 3 Cs of CPR (check patient, call 911, and start chest compressions), what to do when you see people having cardiac assets in public places, and much more. Later Dr. Jawahar and Sumir gave CPR live demonstrations of 1 Person CPR on a practice dummy and all children and adults practiced with them using their pillows assuming their pillows to be human bodies. They also went over how to do 2 personal CPR and helped our youth and adults practice it. They urged everyone to register in CPR classes and become CPR Certified, as it's an important life skill to have which can save somebody’s life in case of emergency. Overall, it was a fantastic CPR session in which we had over 90 participants in-person. In the end, each participant who attended was given a certificate of participation and a cheat sheet of what to do regarding CPR. It was great to see our VT Seva community learn the valuable skill to save someone’s life.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated in the month of April to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage people to take action to protect our planet. One popular activity during Earth Day is organizing community clean-up events to remove litter and debris from public spaces. VT Seva Detroit volunteers had the privilege of participating in one such activity organized by the City of Farmington Hills as part of their 10th Annual Litter Cleanup activity. Around 14 volunteers, consisting of five adults and nine high schoolers, walked over 2 miles & removed debris from along 9 mile Haggerty Rd till Drake Road. It was an eye-opening experience at the end, and we were surprised collecting 6 big trashbags of litters.

VT Seva Alliance Academy Youth Club wrote Letters of Love to the Ukrainian refugees to instill hope and demonstrate in a personalized way that each refugee is not alone during this hardship. The refugees highly appreciated the mindfulness and kindness of Alliance Academy youth. They have received a Certificate of Appreciation and a Thank You Letter from the Ukrainian Authorities.
