DETROIT

VTS Detroit Youth Board - Operation Gratitude

VT Seva Detroit Youth Board Thanking our Deployed Troops Operation Gratitude is a program that supplies deployed troops and frontline responders with a variety of necessities including blankets, bags, and letters. VT Seva DetroitHarish Jaisnkar from Youth Board came up with this idea and as a group youth board members came together to make handwritten letters for these people who put their lives on the line every day. Writing letters is a very quick process, yet it still means the world to the recipients. By working on this project, Detroit Youth Board members thanked all the troops and responders who have been putting themselves in harm's way to keep us safe amid a global pandemic. 23 kids participated and wrote 190 letters to our deployed troops. This is the least our youth can do to show their gratitude for the service of our troops. In this high tech world, penmanship is becoming a lost art. This project provided the opportunity for our youth to discover their writing skills and creativity. Thank You Troops for keeping us safe🙏🇺🇸 Youths participated in this project are Abhinav, Adhvaith, Aishani, Amogh, Anagha, Dhanya, Harish, Hiba, Kaavya, Niharika, Nikhil, Nikita, Oviya, Rashmita, Risha, Sanjana, Shrikha, Sohan, Srihari, Supraja, Sveya, Vaibhav, Yasaswini

A:LO:K 2020

On December 19, 2020, VT Seva Houston and Katy conducted the annual fundraising event Alok in support of the education of underprivileged students of remote tribal areas. This year, due to the pandemic, the event was conducted virtually. The team would like to thank our event sponsor and donors for their generosity in supporting this noble cause. With their contributions, we received pledges to support 275 students! We would also like to thank the 150 families who were in attendance for this virtual Alok event. We thank representatives from the local organizations that we work with for attending and for their kind and uplifting words – Ms. Gayle Metoyer, Mrs. Peggy Garrett and Reverend Michael Garrett of the Houston Council of the Blind and Ms. Lorena Avillaneda of the Houston Food Bank. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and national anthem presentation. An inspirational video message from VT Seva CEO His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji followed, which set the stage for a wonderful evening in celebration of the spirit of giving. An interview by the VT Seva youth of accomplished and dynamic alumni of the tribal schools, Ms. Gangajala Mutyala and Ms. Uma Bharathi Meesala, as well as dedicated school administrators Sriman Prabhakar Rao ji and Sriman Santharam Swamy was a wonderful highlight of the program. The VT Seva youth also presented unique segments on the VT Seva Youtube channel and the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards. Entertainment for the program included a game led by the VT Seva youth, a comedy segment by comedian and motivational speaker Ms. Amanda Hebert, and a delightful kuchupidi dance presentation by Mrs. Sai Sanagavaram. The finale for the event was a live performance by Veena Exponent and Music Composer Sri Phani Narayana and versatile Playback Singer Smt. Usha which had the audience mesmerized! The VT Seva organization, including the national executive team and branch directors and, most importantly, the volunteers, are the force behind the work that we do. We would not be able to have the impact on our communities that we do without each and every one of our volunteers! Once again, thanking our generous donors and volunteers who give of themselves for the greater good, we forge ahead to another year of service in the year 2021!
