VT Seva Maryland is proud to recognize the commitment and leadership of our youth volunteers who participated in the Adopt-a-Road cleanup on August 30, 2026.

Through teamwork and community service, our youth leaders helped clean a local Park and Ride area while demonstrating responsibility, environmental awareness, and compassion for the community. We sincerely appreciate all the volunteers and adult mentors who made this initiative successful.

A Youth Leader’s Perspective

By Akul Pallerla

On August 30, 2026, I had the opportunity to lead a VT Seva Maryland Adopt-a-Road cleanup at a local Park and Ride area. I was joined by Arjun Chintalapati, Joshua Cabral, and Anay Pallerla. With the guidance of our adult leads, Mrs. Prashamsa Muppavaram and Mr. Vasudevan Akkoor, we worked together to make the cleanup successful.

As youth leaders, we organized our responsibilities and made sure we covered the assigned area thoroughly. Working as a team helped us complete the cleanup efficiently while contributing to a cleaner and more welcoming environment.

Small Actions Can Create a Big Impact

This experience taught me that positive change does not always require a huge effort. When people come together with a shared purpose, even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

The cleanup also helped me understand that leadership is not only about taking charge. It is about cooperating with others, encouraging teamwork, completing responsibilities, and serving the community with dedication.

I am grateful to Mrs. Sobana Vasudevan, Branch Director of VT Seva Maryland, for giving me the opportunity to participate in the Adopt-a-Road initiative. I also thank my mom, Mrs. Prashamsa Muppavaram, and Mr. Vasudevan Akkoor, Youth Director of VT Seva Maryland, for their guidance and support.

I sincerely thank Arjun, Joshua, and Anay for their teamwork and encouragement. Together, we showed that when youth step forward to serve, small steps can create a lasting impact in the community.

Service begins with us - and every act of service makes a difference.
