Speaking and interacting with the police officers, by asking them questions and hearing about their thoughts on different aspects of the job, revealed to us a much more approachable and friendly reality of officer's personalities that contrasts stereotypes many citizens hold of the police being intimidating!
I am Akshara, a volunteer with VT SEVA for nearly five years. The police appreciation initiative in Frisco was a wonderful experience for me- it was a valuable opportunity to not only show gratitude towards these officers for their selfless work, but also to learn more about the specific duties and services they perform every day. Speaking and interacting with the police officers, by asking them questions and hearing about their thoughts on different aspects of the job, revealed to us a much more approachable and friendly reality of officer's personalities that contrasts stereotypes many citizens hold of the police being intimidating! I think this would be a truly rewarding opportunity for anyone in our community to gain as well as give back in a meaningful way.
