Vt Seva Houston - Houston Food Bank
On Saturday, November 8th, our VT Seva Houston volunteers had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Houston Food. We deeply thank all our volunteers who volunteered for this opportunity. Together, we helped pack 5,834 meals, filling 7 pallets, and handling over 7,000 pounds of fresh fruit. It was wonderful to see how much we can accomplish when we come together as a team. Growing Kindness: VT Seva Houston Volunteers at The Arc of Katy
On Saturday, November 1st, VT Seva Houston youth and adult volunteers supported The Arc of Katy, an organization serving individuals with intellectual disabilities. Volunteers helped refresh and reorganize various areas, including cleaning storage spaces and removing weeds to prepare the garden for fall planting. They also enjoyed assisting with the vegetable patches. It was a meaningful and rewarding experience for all. VT Seva Houston- Susan G. Komen Race for Breast cancer
On October 4th, 2025, VT SEVA Houston members volunteered at the Susan G. Komen Race, an organization that supports women who battle breast cancer and honoring those who have lost their fight. Our volunteers assisted participants by passing out water and fruits, while enthusiastically cheering them on throughout the course. Despite the early morning start, our members’ dedication and enthusiasm never wavered. As an organization committed to service, VT Seva strives to make a positive impact to uplift communities and extend heartfelt support to those affected by breast cancer. Through our efforts, we reaffirm our promise to support and uplift women battling breast cancer and to continue standing for compassion, care, and community. VT Seva Houston hosts Childhood Cancer Awareness Seminar
On September 27th, VT Seva Houston hosted a Childhood Cancer Awareness Seminar at Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, bringing together community members to learn about the impact of childhood cancer and the importance of early detection and support. The seminar featured two distinguished cancer specialists, Dr. Santhosshi Narayanan, Integrative Oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Dr. Hima Boppidi, Doctor of Oncology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, who shared valuable insights on cancer prevention and Paediatric oncology, recent advancements in treatment, and strategies for recognizing early warning signs. Their talks provided both medical knowledge and preventive insights, helping attendees understand the underlying causes of childhood cancer and ways to promote early detection and healthier lifestyles. The event drew a turnout of about 30 participants, including families, students, and local volunteers, who engaged in thoughtful discussion and an interactive Q&A session. The program was led by three youth leaders of VT Seva Houston: Srisamhita, Anisha, and Siddharth, whose coordination and dedication ensured a successful and meaningful event. Their efforts reflected VT Seva’s mission of inspiring service, compassion, and youth-driven community involvement. Overall, the seminar served as a powerful reminder of the importance of awareness, early intervention, and collective support in the fight against childhood cancer. VT Seva Houston – New Youth Board Orientation & A:lo:k Annual Event Kick-Off! 🌟 On Sunday, Sept 21st, VT Seva Houston proudly welcomed its new youth board members and launched preparations for the upcoming A:lo:k Annual Event. The kick-off meeting brought together 30 enthusiastic students and adults 👩🎓👨🎓, all joining forces to plan and finalize details for the big celebration on December 21st 📅. Their passion, teamwork, and dedication shined throughout the session 💪✨. We can’t wait to see their efforts light up the stage 🎭 and make this year’s event a truly memorable one!

VT Seva Houston Arc of Katy volunteering 2025
On August 2nd, 2025, VT Seva Houston volunteers volunteered with the Arc Of Katy organization, a special organization that helps foster kindness and community within people with intellectual disabilities. Our volunteers took part in various activities, such as washing buses and providing assistance with vacuuming the vehicles in order to provide a cleaner and tidier place for kids to sit inside. Volunteers also wiped down windows with towels and removed dirt as well as pulling weeds from the mini garden!. During the vehicle washing, Mrs. Sherry, one of the leaders of the Arc of Katy organization, explained to the volunteers about the Arc’s purpose and goal, while the VT Seva volunteers shared their goals and purpose in return. It was a fantastic learning experience for everyone. We would like to convey special thanks to Mr. Walt for assisting the volunteers with the equipment and to Mrs. Sherry for introducing us further to the organization and providing a wonderful opportunity to volunteer with the Arc.

VT SEVA HOUSTON MUSIC CAMP 2025
From July 28 to August 1, 2025, VT Seva Houston organized a five day summer music camp focused on semi-classical keerthanas. The camp was led by three high school student teachers,(Samhita, Amrita and Shritan) who provided notations, recordings, and personalized feedback to participants. Their leadership made the learning accessible while fostering a spirit of peer-to-peer mentorship. With several participants engaged, the camp created a collaborative environment that combined cultural education with community service. All proceeds were donated to Houston KidsVikas Meal Program, raising over $250 to support this local initiative. This effort highlighted the impact of youth-led service through the arts, demonstrating how music can both preserve tradition and give back to the community.

VT Seva Houston volunteering at Lunches of Love
On July 22, 2025, VT Seva Houston volunteers visited Lunches of Love and helped decorate lunch bags. Lunches of Love is an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Fort Bend County by providing free, nutritious sack lunches. We had a great time decorating the bags and hope the kids enjoy the designs! We’re thankful for the chance to support such a meaningful cause. Vt Seva Houston Collaborates with Fort Bend County on the occasion of International Yoga Day
Just like in past years, VT Seva Houston collaborated with Fort Bend commissioner Pct.3 Andy Meyers on the occasion of Fort Bend County’s 3rd Annual International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025. It was an honor to meet the chief guest of the event, Sugarland Mayor Carol McCutcheon. Our awesome volunteers jumped in to help with registration and hand out water bottles to keep everyone cool and hydrated and post event cleanup activities. The day was all about celebrating the amazing benefits of yoga for our health and well-being.

Houston Council of Blind
As part of our monthly volunteering initiative at the Houston Council of the Blind, VT Seva Houston volunteers had the privilege of contributing in meaningful ways. From distributing snacks and keeping an organized headcount to assisting with various needs throughout the event, every small act added up to a truly enriching experience. Being part of a community that values support and inclusivity was deeply inspiring. Witnessing the joy and connection these gatherings bring to attendees reminded us how even the simplest gestures can leave a lasting impact. This experience reaffirmed the power of service and the value of showing up with compassion.

MD Anderson Cancer Center Blood drive organized by Vt Seva Houston
On April 27, VT Seva Houston youth volunteers supported a blood drive hosted by MD Anderson Cancer Center at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land. The event, held from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, saw strong community participation, with 27 donors helping impact over 65 lives. VT Seva volunteers played a key role in organizing, registering donors, and ensuring the event ran smoothly. VT Seva Houston thanks all donors and volunteers for making the drive a success!

Earth Day, Every Day, for Everyone!
VT Seva Houston celebrated Earth Day on April 26, 2025, with the theme "Earth Day, Every Day, for Everyone!" The event raised awareness about environmental protection and encouraged eco-friendly actions. Highlights included a presentation by a Future Farmers of America (FFA) member on conservation, sustainability, and green career pathways. Attendees also enjoyed hands-on activities like decorating kindness rocks and crafting pressed flower greeting cards, which will be shared with patients at Texas Children’s Hospital to brighten their day.

Houston Food bank
On March 8th, 2025 VT Seva Houston dedicated their evening to volunteering at the Houston Food Bank from 12 to 4 pm, assisting with packaging stew bags and sorting rice bags. Over the course of four hours, our volunteers successfully packed 5 pallets of stew bags and 80 boxes of rice, totaling 1,040 bags and 6,080 pounds—equivalent to approximately 5,066 meals.
