VT Seva Lambert Mask Making Project

Atlanta

November 12, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM

VT Seva Lambert youth members believe in positivism and humanism in the midst of the pandemic landscape. The path we have taken to accomplish this goal is to make sure everyone has masks. Many hospitals ran out of masks during the pandemic. To help them, VT Seva youth have spent hours stitching handmade cloth masks. Many of the volunteers had never even touched a sewing machine before. They spent hours learning how to use a sewing machine and then stitched over 10,000 handmade masks from 2020-2021. The majority of these masks have been donated to the special needs kids of the Laurel Heights Hospital. It’s a kid-to-kid project. VT Seva Atlanta Lambert Youth Club members are making cloth masks and donating it to raise funds for the education of 10 visually challenged kids in India. It’s like the Girls Scout cookie project (instead of cookies, they are selling masks). Whether helping Special Needs kids of the Laurel Heights Hospital Atlanta or Visually Challenged kids of Nethra Vidyalaya, Atlanta VT Seva youth are always there in the fore font for service.

Detroit

October 1, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

Detroit Youth Board members did their role once again being part of the solution, not the pollution 10 bags of trash was collected on Oct 2, 2022 on the stretch of 8 mile road from Haggerty to Meadowbrook that VT Seva Detroit Adopted. All these trash would've been blocking the sewage, impeding the water flow, polluting the water and ends up harming human and animal health. Every piece of trash removed from this road helps protecting the environment, lives and much more.

PVSA VIRTUAL Award Cermony

Cary

February 27, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM

On February 28th, VT Seva Cary youth board directed their first PVSA awards ceremony. This eventful session opened up with a blast of energetic words from our directors Kalyani Sanka and Sowjanya Thungathurti, and our amazing emcee and youth board President, Chandrika Changalvala. Then, Thanuj Desu and Ashrith Desu talked about the various activities VT Seva Cary has done so far in 2021. The ceremony started with some inspirational words from our guest speaker, Dawn Dixon. Dawn is the race coordinator at FSSeries, one of the many events our volunteers really enjoy volunteering at. She spoke of her experience on volunteering and service, and helping our volunteers learn how to branch out to gain more experience. Then, our advisor Chakradhar Sriperumbudur spoke about the PVSA awards and volunteerism. The PVSA Award winners were recognized after which they were asked to speak about their experience and journey that led them to this honorary award. Each volunteer gave incredible speeches that were very motivational to the audience. Then Ishani Dasyam introduced VT Seva Cary monthly spotlight performance by one of our very own youth volunteers, Bhaavita Nekkalapudi. Bhaavita gave an energetic performance by playing an improvised piece on the drums, in quite a unique circumstance, that left us all speechless. Finally, the volunteers ended the session on a fun note by playing a quick game of Kahoot, run by Rohitha Sanka, that was both engaging and entertaining. Needless to say, it was a very successful session, leaving all of our volunteers inspired and motivated. Letters to Seniors

Bay Area

September 27, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

VT Seva youth volunteers participate in “Letters to sign” every month. Volunteers sign up every month to write up to 4 letters and mail them to the specified address which then reach the seniors. Volunteers write a letter or make cards following guidelines provided on their website.VT Seva has been participating in this activity since 2021 and seeing increased participation from youth volunteers every month. This activity is about providing support and making elders happy by writing letters to them. In this activity, volunteers take a few minutes, sit down and write a letter. They tell them a joke, share a riddle, share how their day went and let them know they are loved. It brings a connection to the person where the letter gets mailed and makes someone feel good when they receive it.
