Success Story
From Volunteer to Leader
Meet Samhita Bandaru - Summer Intern 2025
Samhita joined VT Seva's Summer Internship program thinking she would teach children at Allampally and Nethra Vidyalaya. What she discovered was that the children taught her far more than she could have ever taught them.

From organizing classroom activities and teaching English to playing games with energetic students after school, Samhita developed leadership skills while witnessing the courage and selflessness of the children she served.

Her internship experience visiting local communities, participating in cultural traditions, and connecting with students at Nethra Vidyalaya transformed her perspective on service and community impact.
“I walked into this internship thinking that I would teach them, but they taught me more than I could have ever taught them. Their joy, courage, and selflessness are lessons I will carry with me for life.”
- Samhita Bandaru, Summer Intern 2025

Meet Detroit Youth Club
The VT Seva Detroit Youth Club is a shining example of youth leadership in action. The Youth Board has been instrumental in organizing senior center bonfires, environmental cleanups, and community service events throughout 2024.

From serving lemonade and popsicles to seniors at Manoogian Senior Center to leading the Adopt-a-Road cleanup initiative, Detroit youth volunteers demonstrate how consistent dedication creates meaningful change in their community.

Their involvement spans food drives at Forgotten Harvest (helping pack 9,744 lbs of food), back-to-school giveaways supporting 300+ families, and the annual Walkathon that raised $7,000+ for Angels of Hope cancer support.
“Many of the residents mentioned how they were so happy to see VT Seva come back for every bonfire, and when it was nearing the end of the event, they didn't want to leave.”
