VT Seva Seattle Annual walkathon

Seattle

August 14, 2021 at 12:00:00 AM

VT Seva Seattle hosted 5th Annual walkathon on Aug 14th, 2021 at Ron Regis park, Renton. This year team has adopted the cause of homelessness and started their walkathon a month before virtually and completed with in-person finale . The goal is to walk to end homelessness and raise funds to support needs of homeless people. We have partnered with DESC to support this goal. DESC works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and/or chronic health conditions. We choose to work with the most marginalized and most vulnerable people first, not the most cooperative. We have successfully raised a total of 5K and donated the sum to DESC.

Letters to Seniors

Bay Area

March 19, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM

VT Seva youth volunteers participate in “Letters to sign” every month. Volunteers sign up every month to write up to 4 letters and mail them to the specified address which then reach the seniors. Volunteers write a letter or make cards following guidelines provided on their website. VT Seva has been participating in this activity since 2021 and seeing increased participation from youth volunteers every month. This activity is about providing support and making elders happy by writing letters to them. In this activity, volunteers take a few minutes, sit down and write a letter. They tell them a joke, share a riddle, share how their day went and let them know they are loved. It brings a connection to the person where the letter gets mailed and makes someone feel good when they receive it.
