Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it she stands up for all Women - Maya Angelou If a woman is healthy, the entire family stays productive and happy. Society flourishes. Contributing to a happy society is what we want to achieve in the Health care and Education pillars and were able to accomplish a lot of progress in the past 10+ years serving hundreds of thousands of women. VT Seva hosted an interactive Women Empowerment Workshop, where we want to touch upon the most important basics for the success of every woman. We have lined up topics - Physical, Mental, and Financial well-being and women at workforce in our two day workshop. Industry leaders in those areas have joined the virtual workshop and provided their valuable inputs. We had close to 80+ audience join this program and took advantage of the program.

Letters to Seniors

December 31, 2022 at 12:00:00 AM
VT Seva youth volunteers participate in “Letters to sign” every month. Volunteers sign up every month to write up to 4 letters and mail them to the specified address which then reach the seniors. Volunteers write a letter or make cards following guidelines provided on their website.VT Seva has been participating in this activity since 2021 and seeing increased participation from youth volunteers every month. This activity is about providing support and making elders happy by writing letters to them. In this activity, volunteers take a few minutes, sit down and write a letter. They tell them a joke, share a riddle, share how their day went and let them know they are loved. It brings a connection to the person where the letter gets mailed and makes someone feel good when they receive it.

VT Seva Seattle Labor Day project

Appreciating the Selfless Workers To recognize some of the selfless heroes who have been working long days and nights to make life for everyone easier, are the amazing workers at United States Postal Service and the Waste Management of Seattle. In order to honor and appreciate all that they have been doing before and during the pandemic, VT Seva Seattle volunteers created handmade cards and gave gifts to the USPS and WM workers in their neighborhoods. The smiles on each person who received the personal gifts were heartwarming and full of happiness! Some of our volunteers learned more about the workers and their personal lives while some, like Pranav, learned how difficult and stressful their job has been during the pandemic. Some workers also shared how many of them have had to work overtime during the pandemic due to extra covid precautions. We are so thankful to all the workers at USPS and Seattle WM and are so glad that we got the opportunity to appreciate and recognize some of the hardworking people!
