VT Seva Charlotte celebrates our annual seedlings events for the 3rd year in a row!! The youth volunteers nurtured around 500 plants from the seed to the sapling. With tender care they were able to successfully raise over 400 of the saplings to good health. The seedlings ranged from a variety of flowers to vegetables like peppers, cucumber, squash and a variety of gourds. A group of 30 dedicated volunteers plus a few additional adult volunteers collectively met over the span of 2 months to come together and care for these plants. The volunteers set up a booth and sold the seedling to local community members, all the proceeds went towards Netra Vidyala the school of the blind.

Every year on Earth Day, City of Farmington Hills, Michigan - Municipal Government is committed to cleaning up litter from their streets and making the streets beautiful and safe for all their residents, including animals. This is the 9th year of cleanup where; VT Seva volunteers got this great opportunity to be part of their litter walk. Volunteers walked from 9-mile Haggerty Rd till Gill Rd for over two miles and cleared all litter along the roadside on Earth Day. We all collected trash from wooded areas, side of the roads, fields, lawn, and ditches. It was concerning to see so much trash everywhere. It was hard work and we were tired but it was a very relieving experience to pick the trash up from the roads and wooded areas and put it where it belongs. 𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀

VT Seva Dallas ushered in its 15th Annual Earth day celebrations with Street cleaning activity at Frisco on 23rd April with ~70 volunteers, primarily comprised of children and youth.It was great to resume in person volunteering activity after almost 2 years. It was nice to see the Youth join their hands together in cleaning up the streets of Frisco.

RAFT’s mission is to help educators transform a child’s learning experience through hands-on education to one that inspires the joy and discovery of learning. It's vision is to inspire the next generation of innovators, by providing educators with stem based resources. Volunteers will help sort and package materials for use by teachers for hands on teaching purposes. By volunteering with RAFT, organization skills, communication skills, and social skills are gained.

𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It was a great pleasure meeting Sergeant Mark Broody & he was very kind and courteous to all of us which made us all feel very comfortable. It was a great educational tour for the teens to know about the cyber-crimes that happens and how to be vigilant. We all learnt on how the 911 officers operates & efficiently handle their daily crucial emergency calls. He also talked about different programs that the kids can attend such as the explore Youth assistance programs and more career options that they can pursue. Sabercat is an urban habitat park, composed of a creek, trail and habitat restoration areas set in south east Fremont. There have been fossil findings of sabercat, mastodon and western camel in this area. City of Fremont’s community services department has been restoring the sabercat historic habitat along with a crew of volunteers. The volunteers help restore the area's native plant diversity by removing invasive species, so that there are enough nutrients for native plants. Restoring native plants and vegetation also helps the native wildlife and insects thrive as they depend on these plants for food and shelter.The volunteers also help out by cleaning the existing creek of trash and debris that are harmful to the creek habitat. By cleaning the creek the volunteers also help improve the quality of water flowing to the bay.

The world we live in is nothing short of a miracle. It is home to unparalleled beauty and wonders so marvelous they seem almost preposterous, for no man-made artifact can rival the bewitching allure of even the simplest forests. Each design, from the delicate etchings of leaves to the concentric circles of tree trunks to the twinkling glow of a rainbow, is remarkable, a paragon of beauty. In the words of Helen Keller: “To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.” This quote poetically encapsulates the ethereal charm of nature, incomparable to any manufactured luxuries. However, these places of beauty are quickly being disrupted, destroyed, and desecrated into a wasteland of modern industrialism. With no end to such devastation in sight, it is our responsibility to take matters in our hands and do something for our Mother Earth. Keeping this mantra in mind, VT SEVA adopted Old Atlanta Rd. and held their first trash pick-up on the auspicious day of Ram Navami. With around 30 VT SEVA volunteers working hand in hand to pick up any waste left behind, it was truly a heartwarming sight to see! This event was held on April 10th 2022 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and it commenced with a few inspirational words from our local city council member Dilip Tunki. Nelson Mandela once said, “The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow,” and to see the children and youth of VT SEVA passionately spending their Sunday morning cleaning roads is incredibly uplifting! This was the first of many such road clean-up events, and one of VT SEVA’s many projects paving the road to a better world!

On April 9th, 2022, a couple of VT Seva Cary volunteers were able to participate in setting up an Easter Egg Hunt for kids with special needs. Six of our own volunteers partook in this event and helped with a various range of tasks. From assisting with the setting up of the event, to hiding Easter eggs, leading fun activities like painting for the kids to take part in, and cleaning up. This event was organized by the Asha Foundation of RTP which focuses on empowering and supporting kids with special needs.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟭 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. VT Seva Volunteers helped in sorting all the fresh produces, made boxes, organized the boxes with produce & finally cleaned up the entire work area and removed the trash as well. 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟳𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮.

Adopt a Creek is similar to another event Bay Area VT Seva hosts called Street Cleaning. In Adopt a Creek volunteers go together to a creek, and clean up the nearby area. This is a new event bay Area VT Seva is bringing.

As a part of Environmental Sustainability effort and Climate Change Action , Volunteers took apart if the Green Initiative by taking shorter showers, conserving energy, etc. one volunteer wrote “During the green initiative activity, I take measures to reduce my carbon footprint and save as much of our resources as possible. Some ways I do this is by using natural light instead of turning on the lights in my room when daylight is still there, using the bus to go to and from school everyday rather than using personal transportation, and buying locally sourced food from stores such as Lucky's and Safeway rather than other food. Although these measures taken are small, they eventually add up in the long-term and end up reducing the amount of waste I produce in regards to the resources I have access to. I find these actions really important for our environment and our future so I do them gladly.”
