Join us for Utsav 2025, our annual fundraiser celebrating empathy and resilience. Together, we support Jeeyar Gurukulam and Nethra Vidyalaya, schools that provide free education and boarding to visually challenged and underprivileged children in India. From a handful of tribal Thandas to nearly 25 villages today, this effort has created lasting generational change—thanks to your continued generosity.

Food Sorting at local Food Bank
LOCATION:
Connecticut
February 14, 2025 at 5:00:00 AM
A group of VT Seva youth volunteers in Connecticut made a positive impact by volunteering at a local food bank, (CT Food Share) located at Bloomfield, CT. These young individuals took part in an essential community service by sorting, organizing, and preparing food items for distribution to families and individuals in need. Their tasks included carefully sorting donated goods, checking expiration dates, grouping food into categories, and ensuring that the items were arranged for easy access by those who would later pick them up. One of the significant contributions to the effort was the sorting of 7612 pounds of bread, which equates to 6343 meals. This vast amount of bread will provide a vital source of nourishment to individuals and families in need within the community, making a substantial impact on those who face food insecurity. The volunteers worked diligently to create a well-organized environment, ensuring that the distribution process would run smoothly and efficiently. By volunteering their time and energy, these youth made a real difference in the lives of those who rely on Food Share’s services. Their work at the facility not only contributed to the immediate needs of the community but also fostered a sense of responsibility, empathy, and civic duty among the young volunteers, reinforcing the importance of giving back and making a positive change in the community.
