Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates African American Freedom and emphasizes education and the desire to advance to an equitable society. This annual festival serves as a time to reflect on the past and acknowledge our present and how far we've come. Volunteers at VT Seva demonstrated their support for their community and people all around us through helping out at this event.

It was a very enlightening experience to all our volunteers who participated at Motown Soup volunteering especially knowing that all the profit gained from selling their soup mixtures goes to organizations supporting their mission to serve the homeless and hungry in Michigan. Our volunteers did a fantastic job in packing more than 600 different varieties of soup and dry mixes and finally cleaned up the work areas. These products truly make a difference in the lives of the hungry , homeless, and hurting throughout Michigan.

Volunteers helped the Town of Apex team with garden weeding, picking up limbs, and cleaning it up. Youth volunteers engaged with their local community and contributed to the health of the local flora and fauna by participating in this event!

Thank you so much to all of the awesome volunteers that worked together to collectively make over 50 cards for kids in children’s hospitals! We had a great time finding inspirational quotes, writing, coloring and drawing meaningful pictures on the cards to brighten up people’s days! Thank you again to all of the volunteers! All of the efforts are truly greatly appreciated!

About 20 Atlanta VT Seva youth came together to honor & respect our disabled American veterans by making close to 5,000 forget-me-not flowers on 6/9/2024. These small gestures carry immense gratitude for their sacrifices. We expressed our gratitude for the Veterans and remembered their sacrifices for the nation. Our 1st DAV activity in Atlanta was a very fun and collaborative activity as the youth learned more about each other while making these flowers.

VT Seva Detroit made a meaningful impact by volunteering for Gleaners food bank. This event required volunteers to sort and package an array of food. The packaged boxes of food goes to food pantries where the food will be further sorted and distributed to families in need. The collaboration between all volunteers led to the packaging of around 6,800 pounds of food.

Through VT SEVA, volunteers helped in various activities at the Sri Venkateswara Temple of North Carolina including flow management, registration desk, prasadam packing, and much more. It was very fulfilling to see so many youth volunteers actively participating in an event.as community-driven as this Kalyanam!

VT Seva is partnering with Meals on Wheels to bring forth a great opportunity for Father's Day. Meals on Wheels organizations are to mend and help restore families, providing nutritious meals, companionship, and a watchful eye on the health and safety of our seniors throughout Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Volunteers brightened the days of many fathers in the spirit of Father’s Day!

VT SEVA Cary partnered with the Diaper Bank of North Carolina to ensure that every household has basic necessities to support their dignity, health, and quality of life. They want to make sure that families with small children that are living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers. Volunteers sustained VT SEVA’s relationship with the Diaper Bank through recurring events and contributed to their goals of improving access to personal hygiene and removing barriers to education, employment, or personal fulfillment.

On June 7, volunteers from VT Seva Houston dedicated their time to support Lunches of Love, an organization committed to providing nutritious lunches to underprivileged children. Our volunteers helped at the Lunches of Love's Sugar Land location from 9:00 to 11:00 am. From 9:00 to 10:00 am, our volunteers used their creativity to decorate lunch bags with drawings, colors, and uplifting messages aimed at adding a personal and cheerful touch to each meal. From 10:00 to 11:00 am, volunteers assisted in packing snacks into individual portions, so they would be ready to be included in each lunch being handed out that afternoon. Volunteers were able to decorate around 50 bags, and packed more than 100 portions of snacks. We extend our gratitude to Lunches of Love for providing this volunteer opportunity and to all our volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and hard work.

VT Seva Cary volunteers had the opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina twice this month on 5/4/2024 & 5/24/2024. In this activites 30 youth volunteers participated in helping to pack over 20,000 pounds of food! These will provide many meals to those facing a lack of food security all across North Carolina. The events were a lot of fun and we look forward to future volunteering at FBCENC.

VT Seva Atlanta facilitated its 1st Blood Drive in collaboration with LifeSouth on June 2, 2024. We have more than 60 donors. Blood cannot be manufactured, it can only be donated by the people who want to make a difference in the lives of others. We are very fortunate that we have such people around us. LifeSouth Director was very impressed with the level of service VT Seva volunteers have exhibited today. From 11 am to 7 pm all LifeSouth employees were super busy drawing blood and our VT Seva volunteers are busy in greeting all Donors, giving them juice, healthy snacks, VT Seva pens etc. It’s a great Attitude of Gratitude ✌✌✌

Why Books For Africa? We believe that education is the great equalizer in the world, and books are at the foundation of a strong educational system. For many children in Africa, the gift of books truly is a gift of Hope 📚📖📙📘📔📕 Access to an education is one of the only opportunities young people have to end the cycle of poverty and attain a better quality of life than previous generations. Books For Africa works to help children who otherwise would not attend school by supplying educational materials to reduce or eliminate education costs. Most African children who attend school have never owned a book of their own. In many classrooms, 10-20 students share one textbook. Many people in the United States take these educational necessities for granted, but children in Africa cherish books. VT Seva Atlanta team strives to create a culture of literacy and provide the tools of empowerment to African children. On June 16, 2024, we collected 1,500 Books and 500 Notebooks. This is the highest amount of books we have ever collected so far in a single book drive. Our youths are super happy to empower their African friends through Books of Africa project!
