Bay Area
August 17, 2025 at 7:00:00 AM
vtsbayarea VTSEVA volunteers joined forces with Mayor Matt Mahan to contribute to his project aimed at beautifying the city of San Jose, taking part in hands-on efforts to enhance the communityโs appearance and environment. As part of this initiative, the volunteers worked diligently to paint electrical boxes along the streets, transforming them from plain utility fixtures into visually appealing elements that add vibrancy to the cityโs landscape. In addition to this artistic contribution, they also rolled up their sleeves to remove overgrown weeds, helping to create cleaner, more welcoming public spaces for residents and visitors alike. Through their dedication and teamwork, the VTSEVA volunteers not only supported Mayor Mahanโs vision for a more beautiful San Jose but also demonstrated their own commitment to civic engagement and environmental stewardship, leaving a lasting positive impact on the community.

During the event, our volunteers worked alongside members from several other local organizations to sort, package, and organize food items into bags, preparing them for distribution. Through teamwork, efficiency, and dedication, we were able to pack a significant amount of food and meals, helping to support those facing food insecurity. It was a meaningful opportunity for our volunteers to give back, connect with the broader community, and contribute to a cause that makes a real difference in people's lives.

๐VT Seva Atlanta Youth Launches AP Tutoring Program for Rising 9th Graders๐ ๐June 15th - July 27th As AP classes grow increasingly rigorous, many students - especially those taking their first AP course struggle to keep pace with the demands. To ease this transition and set students up for success, VT Seva Atlanta Youth has launched an AP Tutoring Program on June 15th for 6 weeks program starting with AP Human Geography. ๐โ๏ธ The initiative is led by Shaina Mereddy and Manya Mereddy, two accomplished sophomores who each scored a perfect 5 on the AP Human Geography exam. With a passion for teaching and a strong foundation in the subject, they have been conducting weekly tutoring sessions designed to provide incoming freshmen with a head start.โฅ๏ธ The program consists of full unit, diving deep into key concepts using a blend of high-quality resources - including the official AP textbook, real-world case studies, College Board materials, and Heimlerโs History videos. ๐๐ To reinforce learning, students take weekly assessments and receive feedback on their tests. In the final week, students completed both a review exam and a final mock exam. These assessments not only measured their progress but also built confidence and exam-readiness. Atlanta youth felt very good as they not only helped their friends in gaining confidence in the AP human geography exam but also raised $500 for the education of their Nethra friends in India!๐
