𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞, “𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭,” 💡 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. *In celebration of this Earth Day, Atlanta VT Seva team has planned several events for the environmental protection & conservation -* - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 5 - 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 🖼️ 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙩 . Youths have brought together their ideas about how one could take action to have an impact on our planet, our lives and our future. 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was conducted to showcase their creativity and thoughtfulness with the theme for this year "𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧, 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙩". In another “𝐁𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧, 𝐁𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭!” event, youths had expressed themselves about how important it is to keep in mind our daily actions and how they affect the environment. Some had written up on “𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒚𝒄𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒖𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 ?” and some had upcycled household item like milk carton to create a beautiful planter. - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 12, 13, 20 - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙚 🪴 Our plant-based Earth Day activity, "𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙡", reflects growing plants can be a powerful way to connect with nature and a commitment to a sustainable future. This event 𝙠𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙞𝙣 𝙁𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙮 with educating the youths about growing plants from seeds from start till end like soil mix, optimum temperature, water level, essential nutrients and how to care for them throughout. Then, 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒅. - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 19 - 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖📚 Many 𝘼𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 , hindering their learning and development. 𝑫𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 can provide valuable resources for students to learn and succeed in their studies, as well as 𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨 by preventing books from ending up in landfills. With the “𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂" event, many youths came forward to donate their used books enabling students in Africa to learn and achieve their potential. This event saw over 1500 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 to the "Books for Africa" non-profit organization for a noble cause. - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 26 - 𝙕𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚^ - 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 ♻️ As part of Phase 2 of our RRR 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 – 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚, 𝙍𝙚𝙪𝙨𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 – we focused on sorting and binding pages to create new books from old, unused ones. In Phase 1, our 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨. In this second phase, they will sort and cut the pages, while our 𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨. This initiative supports our mission to reduce tree cutting and protect the environment. In celebration of Earth Month, this project reflects our continued commitment to sustainability and caring for 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝. - 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 26 - 𝘼𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖 𝘼𝙙𝙤𝙥𝙩-𝘼-𝙍𝙤𝙖𝙙 🛣️ As part of our ongoing quarterly initiative, VT Seva Atlanta youth volunteers will be participating in a 𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒍𝒅 𝑨𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅 to help protect and preserve our Earth. With a shared commitment to service, they will work together to remove litter and beautify the area, showing that small actions can make a big impact on our planet. VT Seva Maryland's youth leader, Akul Pallerla, successfully led the 2nd Annual SAMATHA Public Speaking competition on April 5,2025. Below is his account of the event, highlighting his journey and volunteer experience. Event Summary ----------------- On April 5th, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, VT SEVA Maryland proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Public Speaking Competition. The event was a great success, bringing together over 18 enthusiastic students from both elementary and middle schools. Participants confidently showcased their creativity, eloquence, and public speaking skills. It was a wonderful opportunity for young speakers to express themselves and shine on stage. Acknowledgments -------------------- The success of this event would not have been possible without the unwavering support and heartfelt involvement of our amazing parents and volunteers. From the early stages of preparation to the final moments of the event, their guidance, encouragement, and generosity shone through. Their dedication created a warm, welcoming, and uplifting environment that truly inspired everyone involved. We are deeply grateful for their contribution. Thanks to the generosity of 44 youth board members, we collected 343 books and 72 toys, which will bring joy, learning, and comfort to children and families in need and keep these items out of landfills.

VTSEVA Detroit Youth Board* collaborated with Destined for Greatness to donate clothing to help those in need in the local Detroit area. This clothing supported Destined for Greatness’s Easter Giveaway and will help support a huge amount of people who are in need. This year, we had 25+ youth board members donate more than 250 pieces of clothing to this wonderful cause!
