On May 17th, 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers assisted the Asha Foundation by spending time with children with developmental disabilities through games, sports, and outdoor activities. Our 8 youth volunteers helped set up the event before being paired with buddies to ensure every child felt included and supported. Throughout the event, volunteers played with the children, accompanied them around the playground, and encouraged them to participate in different activities. Although the groups were spread out, volunteers stayed engaged and made sure no child was left out. The event ended with a group photo under the gazebo and left both volunteers and families feeling grateful and appreciated. Through their kindness and enthusiasm, our volunteers helped create a fun and welcoming environment for everyone involved.

On May 16th, 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers assisted at the Durham Rescue Mission with serving meals to individuals in need. Our 9 youth volunteers and 4 adult volunteers worked together to serve lunch and dessert throughout the event. From start to finish, volunteers stayed active by helping with food service and supporting staff to keep things running smoothly. By the end of the event, all serving and basic cleanup tasks were completed. Overall, the volunteers helped serve a large number of people and made a positive impact on the community.

On May 10th, 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers participated in the Best Buddies program at the Asha Foundation, helping create a fun and welcoming environment for children with developmental disabilities. Our 6 youth volunteers spent time with their assigned buddies through activities such as soccer, basketball, cricket, and playground games. Throughout the event, volunteers stayed engaged with the children and worked to ensure everyone felt included and supported. By the end of the event, the volunteers helped bring joy to 6 special needs children while creating meaningful friendships and positive memories for everyone involved.

On May 9 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers participated in a DAV Flower Making event to honor retired and disabled American veterans. Our 10 youth volunteers worked together to create handmade “forget-me-not” flowers in a positive and collaborative environment. Throughout the event, volunteers stayed engaged and helped each other while carefully crafting flowers to show appreciation for veterans and their service. This event gave volunteers an opportunity to combine creativity with community service while spreading gratitude and support for those who have served our country.

On May 2nd, 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers participated in a DAV Flower Making event to honor retired and disabled American veterans. Our 6 youth volunteers worked together to create handmade “forget-me-not” flowers in a fun and productive environment. Through their teamwork and effort, the volunteers made a total of 860 flowers, each representing appreciation and gratitude for veterans and their service. This event gave volunteers a meaningful opportunity to support the community while spreading positivity and recognition for those who have served our country.

On May 2nd, 2026, VT Seva Cary volunteers assisted with the Brown Bag Ministry, helping prepare meals and supplies for members of the community in need. Our 8 volunteers worked together to package food items including sandwiches, snacks, fruits, and water bags for distribution. The event ran smoothly as volunteers arrived prepared and quickly began organizing and assembling the bags efficiently. Through teamwork and dedication, the volunteers successfully packed 100 meal bags to help support individuals and families in the community. This event provided a meaningful opportunity for volunteers to give back while making a direct and positive impact on those in need.

Students from North Farmington High School VTS Club came together on Apri 16, 2026, to create 75 beautiful "Forget-Me-Not" flower bunches (20 flowers in each bunch) for DAV (Disabled American Veterans). With the helping hands of 15 dedicated student volunteers, this project was more than just crafting flowers—it was an opportunity to express gratitude, strengthen friendships, and honor the sacrifices of our veterans through a simple act of kindness. Anwesha Parida our Youth lead led this event and below is the write up from her. As the lead for our Senior Center visit on July 19th at 2:30 pm, this experience has been especially meaningful to me. Spending time with the residents, organizing activities, sharing laughter, and seeing their smiles brought me so much joy. It was incredibly rewarding to know that, through our time and efforts, we could brighten their day and make them feel cared for and connected. This has been one of the most fulfilling and meaningful experiences of my journey with VT Seva. The trivia questions were a wonderful icebreaker and brought so much laughter and joy to the room. The seniors had so much fun answering them in their own unique and playful ways. What made the activity even more special was hearing them share their memories and stories with us. Those moments of connection and laughter made the experience truly unforgettable. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Sobana Vasudevan for leading a wonderful yoga activity with the seniors and making it such a special part of our visit. A special thank you to Mrs. Sandhya Kakani for stepping forward and helping us throughout the event. I am especially grateful to Mrs. Megan and Mrs. Deepa Parida for arranging and coordinating this wonderful meeting and making this opportunity possible. I would also like to sincerely thank our youth volunteers, Mridula Vasudevan and Tara Vasudevan, for supporting me throughout the event. Your time, kindness, and dedication played an important role in making this event successful. Thank you all for helping create such a meaningful and memorable experience!

VT Seva Maryland proudly celebrated Independence Day with a wonderful July 4th Community Parade, bringing together families, friends, and volunteers for a day filled with patriotism, unity, and fun. It was truly a memorable celebration! Akanksha Subramaniam, Event Lead, Shares this following message: I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our July 4th Community Parade. Seeing our community come together to celebrate Independence Day made this event incredibly special. A huge thank you to all the participants who walked together to the clubhouse with such enthusiasm and spirit. Your energy and excitement truly made the parade a success. Once everyone arrived at the clubhouse, our amazing volunteer team was ready to welcome participants with refreshing snacks and drinks.
