Learn ASL (American Sign Language)

Did you know according to American community Survey, about 3.6% of US population consider themselves deaf or have serious difficulty hearing ?


Did you know studying ASL (American sign Language) promotes better awareness of and sensitivity to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Sign language are an extremely important communication tool for many deaf and hard of hearing people.


Did you know being fluent in ASL has fascinating benefits:

- ASL leads to higher reading levels in kids

- ASL signers have incredible spatial reasoning

- ASL brings long term cognitive benefits

Now you can learn the basics of ASL in our upcoming sessions.

What you will learn:

  • Conversational ASL

  • Basics - how to introduce yourself, survival signs

  • Touch on deaf history and culture

Each session: 4 classes

Class length: 1 hour and 30 minutes


Dates: (Select only ONE session to join - a date/time convenient for you).

  • Session 1: Wednesdays: 09/01-09/22 → 7:00pm - 8:30pm

  • Session 2: Saturdays: 09/04-09/25 → 11:30am - 1:00pm

  • Session 3: Sundays: 09/05-09/26 → 3:00am - 4:30pm

  • Session 4: Wednesdays: 10/06-10/27 → 7:00am - 8:30pm

  • Session 5: Sundays: 10/03-10/24 → 3:00am - 4:30pm

Fee: $60 / session / per person

Additional family members: $40 each

Each year VT Seva supports both tribal and visually challenged students for free education and free food. Your support via programs like these help us maintain their support and future. We highly encourage you to see the videos below from our schools and colleges in support of this program. Each dollar you donate goes directly to the cause. VT Seva is a non-profit organization run by volunteers.





VT Seva in a non-profit organization with primary focus to teach self-reliance to underprivileged and visually impaired students from low socio-economic backgrounds by providing them with boarding, education and empowerment. Our organization is active in promoting cancer awareness and immediate responders for any natural disaster that occurs around the world.


Apart from our national activities, our Bay Area Chapter conducts local activities to promote the spirit of volunteerism in our youth for their participation and leadership skills.
