In honor of Labor Day, our VT Seva club made appreciation cards for the essential workers at our school such as the lunch ladies, front office workers, and our janitors! They work so hard every day to strengthen and support our community, so we wanted to give them appreciation cards to show how much they are valued! It was so fulfilling to see the essential workers' faces light up, as they also deserve to be recognized. As a club, we realized that a simple card can brighten someone's day

As students who had our own first day jitters, we understand how scary it is to start a new chapter. To ease the freshmen's worries, our VTS Club decided to make welcome notes to spread encouragement and smiles! Handmade with bright colors, these notes instantly brought smiles to nervous freshman faces, knowing that people were glad that they were here.

On July 9th, 2026, VT Seva Detroit volunteered at Open Door Food Ministries to support their weekly food distribution efforts. Open Door Food Ministries plays a vital role in serving hundreds of local families by providing groceries and essential items to those facing food insecurity. During this volunteering event, we helped distribute 27,000 pounds of food.

As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, VT Seva Detroit was proud to take part in honoring this historic milestone through the *national project, America 250 Initiative*. Youth volunteers created educational infographics *featuring influential American leaders, social activists, freedom fighters, and changemakers who have shaped our nation’s history*.

On *June 25th, 2026*, *VT Seva Detroit Youth Board* volunteers had an amazing volunteering experience at *Open Door Food Ministries*. This food pantry serves those in need, and they serve around 400 families every week with an average of 20,000 lb of food per week. During this service event, we helped with various tasks, including those below: * Organizing bananas into bags for easy distribution * Loading food delivery carts * Disposing of expired food * Cleanup after food distribution

WOW what an Amazing day we had on 14th June 2026. We started the day with wet and rainy and ended it with bright sunny skies. A perfect Michigan day with unpredictable weather. We had a packed agenda but as usual like every other *VT SEVA Detroit event*, with *TEAMWORK* we made it possible to celebrate all of the following 1.* Youth Board Leadership Transition* 2.🏆 *VT Seva Volunteer Service Awards (Jeeyar Awards)* 3.🎓 *Celebrating Our Graduating Seniors* 4. 🎉* Youth Board 7th Anniversary* 5. 🤝 *Meet & Greet Success* 6. *Forget-Me-Not” flowers* 7.🚶‍♂️*Walkathon Kickoff*

WIHI VTSeva hosted a “Make It, Take It” reading kit program at the Ypsilanti District Library. We collected book donations at WIHI, which we then used to create kits with coloring pages and books for students at the library to enjoy! We had so much fun seeing kids and families color together and we loved reading the books with them!

In May 2026, VT SEVA Detroit youth Board members collected around 150 pairs of gently used shoes to support VT SEVA Detroit Feeding Hope program. Collected items were carefully sorted by the youth leads to bag and ship them to *"GotSneakers"* organization. These shoes will help reuse, recycle, and donate the items to benefit children, low-income families, and the homeless in underprivileged countries. If these donated pairs are in Excellent condition, *"GotSneakers"* will compensate us with some $'s, and all funds collected through this drive will be donated to *VTSEVA "Feeding Hope" program*.

The 𝐕𝐓𝐒 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲, 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐭, came together with incredible enthusiasm and heart to create 1,248 DAV flowers in support of Disabled American Veterans, and every single flower represents gratitude, respect, and kindness.

Troy High VTS made 63 bracelets for the children in the Nethra Vidyalaya village as a way to spread kindness and create a personal connection with the kids. Each bracelet was handmade and designed to make the children feel supported. This project not only brought joy to the children receiving the bracelets, but also encouraged creativity among the club members who participated.

Members from the IAE VTS Club came together to make friendship bracelets! These friendship bracelets will be sent to the kids in the Nethra Vidyalaya school in India! Each bracelet is a small symbol of friendship, kindness, and the reminder that someone, even from across the world, is thinking of them. In total, we were able to make 81 bracelets! We’re so proud to have been able to brighten the students’ day with something handmade and heartfelt.

In order to spread joy and give back to the world, WiHi VTS Club made 60 bracelets for students at the Nethra Vidyalaya school for blind children in India. Not only was this an extremely wonderful and fulfilling event for participants, but it was also the first of its kind!

VT Seva Detroit wishes Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there! As we turn to the season of celebration, it's important to keep those in mind who don't get to celebrate as much as we do. For Mother's Day 2026, VT Seva Detroit youths came together to create beautiful Mother's Day and thinking of your cards for the women of Manoogian Manor. These amazing ladies often do not get the chance to celebrate Mother's Day, and we are so grateful to have been able to make a difference in their lives and hopefully brighten their day as they are reminded that they are loved during this time of year. We love to see their smiles every year as they read through our cards and cannot wait to do this again next year!
