Community service has the power to unite generations - and VT Seva Maryland’s 3rd Annual Blood Drive proved it beautifully.

In collaboration with the American Red Cross and Landsdale HOA, our community came together to make a life-saving impact. Led by youth leader Inika Keranahalli, the event exceeded every goal and demonstrated what is possible when passion meets purpose.

By the Numbers: A Lifesaving Triumph

Target goal: 22 units
Registered donors: 29
Total units collected: 28
Potential lives impacted: Up to 84 lives saved! 🩸

Every unit of blood collected has the potential to save up to three lives. Thanks to the generosity of our community, patients in need will have a second chance at life.

Leadership in Action: Inika Keranahalli’s Reflection

We had the opportunity to help organize and volunteer at a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross and collaboration with Landsdale HOA. Our team of VT Seva Maryland Adult and Youth Volunteers, Red Cross staff, Landsdale HOA, and community donors came together to support this vital cause. We began the day by setting up the event space and helping the Red Cross team organize their supplies. Throughout the drive, We worked across different areas to ensure operations ran smoothly. We welcomed and guided donors through registration, and later managed the post-donation area - checking in on donors, offering refreshments, and ensuring they felt comfortable. One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was seeing so many people willingly contribute their time and blood to help others. Working alongside the Red Cross showed us how much coordination, communication, and teamwork it takes to run a successful service event. Overall, this rewarding experience allowed me to strengthen my leadership and teamwork skills while directly helping people in need. It reinforced the importance of community service and proved what we can accomplish when generations unite for a shared purpose.
