Given this was our first time at the food bank, we were given a tour of the facility by the manager. Everyone was amazed by the vast storage room with endless boxes of food piled high. Everything was organized and packaged very neatly making it clear they have an impressive system for keeping track of the supplies. Afterwards, we were led down to the packaging room where diligent volunteers were already at work. We were impressed by the dedication of the volunteers and the managers of the food bank. For our task that day everyone worked together in an assembly line to prepare family meal boxes for those in need of assistance. Each volunteer was in charge of one or two food items to the box and passed it along the conveyor belt to the next person. From adding food items to the boxes, unpacking large quantities of food, and lifting heavy boxes, everyone had a job to do. Two volunteers at the end of the line sealed the boxes and stacked them four boxes high so they could be sent to other locations to be distributed. The family meal boxes included milk, juice, rice, pasta, beans, peanut butter, granola bars, canned fruit and veggies, and more. We put together 13,980 meals for families with a total weight of 15,600 pounds. We all enjoyed volunteering at the Greater Boston Food Bank and canโ€™t wait to come back soon! VT Seva (Volunteering Together for Service and Education) is a nonprofit organization that empowers youth to lead service initiatives focused on education, health, and community development. As part of this mission, the Tampa chapter organizes book drives to support global literacy through Books For Africa, the largest shipper of donated books to the African continent. Community members are encouraged to contribute childrenโ€™s books, which are collected at drop-off points and sent to African schools and libraries. Students and student ambassadors lead the effort, planning drives, coordinating collections, and spreading awareness, while earning volunteer hours and developing leadership skills. This initiative not only helps close the educational resource gap abroad but also encourages responsibility and socialization among students in the Tampa area. Sign up and start collecting the books. Feeding Hope; a heartfelt initiative that commemorates special occasions of loved ones by providing essential meals to Nethra Vidyalaya school, colleges, and Tribal school children. Our boarding students are provided with highly nutritious & sumptous Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner a day & our non-residential students are provided lunch meals. Contributing to this initiative becomes a meaningful tribute, weaving together the spirit of celebration to benefit the community in a profoundly impactful way. Prashanthi Velaga, Austin I am filled with gratitude and joy to be a part of a program, which uplifts and supports young people who embody resilience, determination, and talent in every sense. These students are not defined by their challenges, but by their remarkable abilities, spirit, and aspirations. Feeding Hope is our way of standing beside themโ€”not out of charity, but out of respect and solidarity for their hard work and pursuit of excellence. Itโ€™s about making sure that their basic needs are met so they can continue to focus on their education, goals, and dreams. Leading this initiative in Austin has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Itโ€™s not just about fundraising for mealsโ€”itโ€™s about building a bridge of care, connection, and shared purpose. I see the patrons of this program provide a powerful message to the students with every contribution - We see you, we believe in you, and weโ€™re with you.Thank you, VT Seva, for the opportunity to be part of this beautiful journey.
