PAST EVENT VT Seva Seattle volunteers spent Sunday at the Hope Factory helping build tiny homes that provide transitional housing for those experiencing homelessness in Seattle. Our team—including both youth and adult volunteers—rolled up their sleeves and jumped into a variety of hands-on tasks: painting, caulking, insulating panels, assembling interiors, prepping materials, and more. It was a meaningful opportunity to learn practical life skills while contributing to a cause that directly impacts our community. Beyond the work itself, we also learned about the purpose of the Tiny Home Villages—how they offer not only safe, warm shelter but also stability, dignity, and a supportive community to help residents get back on their feet. Hearing our youth share their reflections afterward was truly inspiring; the experience deepened their understanding of homelessness and the power of service. This build was especially meaningful because the VT Seva team raised funds over the summer—through our Unity Cricket Cup and Walkathon—to sponsor tiny homes. It was wonderful for our volunteers to see these contributions turn into real, tangible impact. Here’s a glimpse of the work the team put in—photos and a quick highlight reel from the day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv1cSjW3lh8 Read More PAST EVENT Annual 5K Walkathon On August 24th, VT Seva Seattle conducted its annual 5K Walkathon, carrying forward the same spirit of compassion and service as the Unity Cup. The event was more than just a walk — it was a joyful celebration of unity, tradition, and purpose. From a laughter-filled scavenger hunt to the Utti challenge and the nostalgic game of Seven Stones, families, youth, and community members came together in an afternoon of play, connection, and service. Sharing stories over a picnic lunch, everyone was reminded of a simple truth: we serve with purpose, we walk together, we share love — no one is more, no one is less, we are one team, we are one VT Seva. Like the Unity Cup, the Walkathon supported our goal of building two tiny homes in partnership with Sound Foundations NW, turning every step into a pledge of hope and impact for those experiencing homelessness. We were also honored to have Barb from Sound Foundations NW join us for the occasion and present the VT Seva Service Awards for 2024, recognizing the dedication and commitment of our youth volunteers. The officers graciously gave us a full tour — from the holding cell and wellness rooms to trying on police gear and even sitting inside a patrol car! 🚓 They spoke with our volunteers about their jobs, shared advice, and appreciated our efforts to connect. One special moment came from a Sergeant who said he keeps 3 bracelets from VT Seva hanging in his patrol car — a reminder of the bonds we’ve built. ❤️ 🙏 Thank you to our amazing youth — Hemanth, Akshara, Avyukth, Achuth, Sathkrith, Shreya, Saaketh, Pranavn, Nihaal, Jay, Laya, Sai and our youngest volunteer Sragvi — for making this day so meaningful. Double your donations in just 15 minutes Not Found Company name W. K. Kellogg Foundation Company matches to most non-profit donations. Please search for "benevity" or "gift matching" or "donations" on your internal website Did not find your company ? Contact us at secretary@vtsworld.org and we will find more information for you Your donation + Company match = Double the donation/Double the impact Many companies provide donation matching for contributions made to nonprofit organizations. When you donate to nonprofit, your employer matches or exceeds your donation, effectively doubling OR even tripling your impact! How it works Check if Your Employer Offers Gift Matching Look at your company’s intranet or HR portal for a matching gift program. Ask your HR or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team Understand the Matching Criteria Eligibility: Some companies only match donations to specific types of nonprofits (e.g., education, disaster relief, arts). Match Ratio: Most companies match 1:1, but some offer 2:1 or even 3:1. Minimum & Maximum Limits: Companies set annual donation limits (e.g., $50 minimum, $5,000 maximum per employee). Eligible Employees: Some programs are available only to full-time employees, while others include part-time employees or retirees Make Your Donation Contribute directly through your company's donation portal : Many large organizations have their own giving platforms. Check in with your HR department or search your internal site for terms like "gift matching" or "donations." Once you locate the portal, look for the non-profit organization "VT Seva" to make your donation. Your company will automatically match your contribution up to a specified limit and under certain conditions. Donate via the VT Seva website and submit for matching request : When you donate on our VT Seva website, you'll receive a receipt via email. You can take a screenshot or copy of this receipt to submit on your company's internal donation site. Follow your company’s process, which may include: Filling out an online form in the company’s matching gift portal. Submitting a paper form to HR. Providing VT Seva's Tax ID:80-0271287 and donation receipt. Encourage Others Remind colleagues about gift matching, especially during Giving Tuesday or end-of-year donation drives. With the funds we raise through this initiative, we can continue to provide quality education, resources, and support to those who need it most. Through this initiative, we hope to foster a love for sports and healthy competition among our students, while also giving them a chance to develop valuable skills that will benefit them both on and off the table. The camp provided students with valuable academic instruction to prepare them for the upcoming school year, alongside engaging activities such as dancing, singing, yoga, and arts and crafts that fostered creativity, mindfulness, and fun. Where friendships are real, the marker stains are permanent, and every single day was a wild attempt to fit math, English, games, dance, singing, reading, art, and crafts into a few short hours. This group didn’t just attend camp, they took over. If camp were a TV show, these kids were the stars, the directors, and probably the entire writing team. We experienced plot twists, spontaneous musicals, dramatic math meltdowns, and spelling bee rivalries that felt like Olympic events. Some came to learn. Some came to perform. Some came to quietly draw on themselves with permanent markers and somehow walk out looking like abstract art. But every single one brought heart, humor, and something totally unforgettable. From 3 PM to 9 PM, students, families, and community members stopped by throughout the afternoon and evening to enjoy Italian ice, gelatis, and soft-serve while supporting a meaningful mission. At the counter, guests used the code VTSEVA, allowing 20% of each purchase to go directly toward our initiative. Our goal for this event was to raise awareness about the fight against drug abuse while also generating funds to support the impactful work being done at Emory Rehabilitation Hospital. Although the event maintained a calm and steady flow of visitors, each contribution counted, and every purchase — big or small — helped push our mission forward. The atmosphere was warm and encouraging, with volunteers greeting guests, sharing information, and fostering a sense of community involvement. The funds we raised will be donated to Emory Rehabilitation Hospital, where they will help support patient rehabilitation, treatment access, and ongoing recovery support services. For those inspired to extend their support beyond the event, additional donations can be made through Emory’s official giving page.🏥♥️ Ultimately, Cone Up for a Cause was more than a fundraiser; it was a moment for our school and local community to come together, enjoy something sweet, and support a cause that genuinely matters. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared the event, or contributed in any way. Your support helps us continue creating positive impact, one event at a time.
