Brookdale Senior Center (2/10/25, 5/27/25, 6/12/25)

Troy High VTS visited Brookdale Senior Living Center to spend time with all the residents. We played bingo with them and rewarded the winners with small prizes. Next, we created touching cards and handed them out ourselves, which lit their faces with joy. It was clear how much it meant to them. The seniors were very warm and interactive with us throughout the day, and were very touched by our visit. It was truly heartwarming to share such quality time with them. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW) (2/1/25, 5/10/25)

During our recent volunteer effort at Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW), our team contributed to disaster preparedness and response by organizing approximately 200 Ziplock supply bags and successfully packing 90 emergency relief buckets. These supplies are intended to support individuals and families affected by natural disasters, ensuring they have access to basic necessities during times of crisis. Our work helped streamline the distribution process and directly supports DRAW’s mission to provide rapid and efficient aid when it’s needed most.

Math Kangaroo Competition (3/20/25)

Troy High VTS and the Troy IAE VTS collaborated and our volunteers came together to support the Math Kangaroo Competition! This partnership made the event smooth and successful, with volunteers setting up testing materials, managing the registration desk, proctoring the exam, and assisting students with last-minute questions.

Cranbrook Institute of Science Museum (10/6/24, 10/18/24)

VT Seva Detroit’s Troy High volunteers took part in the Halloween science scavenger hunt at the Cranbrook Institute of Science Museum! Our team had a blast sharing the science behind exciting experiments with young kids and their families. This was not only a learning opportunity and fun for the kids but for the volunteers too. Our team enjoyed the curiosity of the crowd, the learning, and the practical demonstrations. We helped kids do the activities that we were already trained to do. Satisfaction to the volunteers came from the young kids and their families enjoying their understanding of the fun experiments! We also helped out at the Archimedes Event. We were able to learn about all the cool technology/inventions created back in the 1800s!

Closing Summary

This year, Troy High VTS Club showed that service isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Every initiative planted a seed of kindness, and together we grew a garden of change. With renewed energy, we’re ready to nurture even more impact in the year ahead!
