  • Deepti - 1st year college student

Intermediate 1st year, HEC (History Economics and Civics) - 2017 MY name is Deepthi and I hail from Raichur in Karnataka. I lost my eye sight to Glaucoma when I was in 7th grade despite the best of medical facilities my parents provided to me. I joined in a school for blind in my 8th grade and continued there till 10th. I learned about Netra College while listening to an interview on television. I lost my eye sight to Glaucoma when I was in 7th grade When I came here, I was honestly not able to cope up with curriculum here for few days. I had some exposure to spoken English. But I did not know anything about computer aided education. However with the immense support of our lecturers, I took about 2 months to get familiarized with the valuable tools here. From then on, I improved rapidly and now I am at ease with the advanced technology aids to empower us. We are trained in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Program), a program aimed at personality development with practical application covering various aspects of listening and communication skills. Our college timings are from morning 7 AM to evening 4 PM. The college conducts games like testing our grip in typing on a laptop keyboard, musical chairs and many other fun filled activities which make our educational learning, a happy experience. I feel so fortunate to be a student of this college. After completion of my Bachelor’s degree here, I would like to appear for UPSC (The most competitive examination of India) and get into a top public social post. I am preparing well for the same. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the organization for providing me this wonderful opportunity. I thank all my lecturers for supporting me in every field. #dreams

  • Know about Ramya

Ramya is a B.Com (Computers) 1st year, Netra Degree College (Year 2017). She was born with complete visual impairment and would like to become an english teacher. Learn about her... I aspire to become English lecturer I was born with complete visual impairment and my childhood was devoid of the usual joys of playing with other children in group games. My childhood was interspersed with worries of my parents for my future and prospects of higher education. Having not found any facilities in a local school, I moved to Karimnagar and pursued my education till 10th grade in a school there. Sports like chess and indoor games became my past time hobbies along with story writing. Beginning my journey with Netra Vidyalaya was one of the best things that could have happened to me. Along with academic education, we are imparted moral values for wholesome growth as good citizens. This college caters service to any visually challenged student and does not have any boundaries for a particular religion, region, language or gender. I can proudly say that I will reach my GOAL. After obtaining Bachelor’s degree from here, I wish to pursue higher studies and attain a Master’s degree with English as major. I aspire to be a lecturer in future. Our principal Yadagiri Swami’s teaching methodology has a profound impact on my career choice. I passed Intermediate with good grades because of excellent guidance and motivation from our lecturers. I can proudly say that I will reach my goal. I am grateful for getting this wonderful opportunity and I am very fortunate to be studying at this illustrious institution. #bloggingtips #WixBlog #featured

  • Chitra - Spoken english teacher

Meet Ms. Chitra Venkatesam, a spoken english teacher, at Netra College, Hyderabad Her Story in her own words: Netra Vidyalaya has been a hall mark in working towards educating visually impaired and underprivileged children. A child’s background, whether it be religion, caste, gender or color, is not a factors for admission. Yet, the infrastructure is at par and even better than many of the elite educational institutions in our society. All necessary accommodations are arranged to make the educational experience a superior one. The administration ensures every aspect of the child’s duration here is planned in detail so the students have a successful academic year. Yet, the infrastructure is at par and even better than many of the elite educational institutions in our society. The teachers are sensitive towards the special needs of every student and design their courses accordingly • The food is prepared with the upmost detail, centered around a healthy diet • Year round livein hostels are provided for all students • Administration and sta. alike act in an affectionate and compassionate manner Though these students live here away from their family, the college has become a second home where everyone is ready to lend a helping hand to the needy, be it academically or emotionally. All of this is possible because of VT Seva CEO, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji’s vision. Because of which, these students’ once ‘handicap’ has turned into their guiding strength via top notch instruction combined with cuttingedge technological support. Children here not only tread the path of education, but emerge as a smashing success. The encouragement we get is an inspiration for everyone here that motivates all of us to perform at our best. I have been extremely fortunate to be part of this great institute. Receiving a chance to start serving here so early in life keeps me eternally humble, and I will forever remain grateful for this opportunity bestowed upon me. I pray to the almighty that our institute keeps performing this great service under the guidance of our founder. More than anything, I am grateful to the students here. They are like the stars in the vast canvas of sky, which energize and make up the pulse of Netra Vidyalaya. With zeal and enthusiasm, their curious minds hold on to the lessons we teachers are so privileged to impart, e.ectively turning a classroom lecture into true knowledge.

  • My dreams - Manohar Reddy

Manohar Reddy: 1st year Bachelors in Computer Science,Netra Degree College, Hyderabad This land has given birth to many great personalities including Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhiji, and Sahn ti Doot a Nehru. Mother India has also given birth to me. Born in Yadiki, as the son of farmer parents, Chandrasekhar and Sivanirmala, I am forever grateful to my teachers and environment. My mother taught me how to speak. My father taught me how to walk. In school, my teachers developed my confidence and shaped my character. They not only gave me reading and writing skills, they had a prominent role in m yd ev el op ment as a hu man bei ng. They made me who I am today. Throughout my high school, I received high marks. After losing partial vision, I completed my studies at the ‘High School for Inclusive Education RDT’. Because of my desire to attain a higher education, I was informed about the Netra degree colleges by my seniors. The opportunity makes me supremely grateful to the founder. Before coming here, I had no exposure to computers or English communication skills. In high school, we used Braille script for taking notes and listened to audio books. These simple tools made material for our studies and compete with other students. Netra College though, provided me with excellent facilities coupled with advanced technology and a highly competent faculty. The ability to read any text with the help of JAWS software and the opportunity to write exams on laptops made my daily life remarkably more productive. Once having fears about my future in this competitive world, I was like a kite wit ohu t t hread and a fis h ou t of wat er. But Netra Intermediate College helped me develop spoken English skills and taught me how to operate advanced tools like the latest technology in mobile computing. This place must be the eighth wonder of the world because no one is able see these kinds of facilities combined with the guidance of such compassionate teachers elsewhere. I passed my intermediate (10+2) by writi ng exa ms ind epned entl y on a l apt op. It was amazing to experience such res ults - I pasesd out wit h fly i ng col ors. The success is all due to the wonderful opport uniti es pr ovi ded f or t h be li nd heer . Netra College gave eyes to my fingers and ears, allowing me to see that my heart had courage to persevere. Through the great vision and encouragement of our inspirer Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, anything is possible. I am happy to share that the Government of India has granted me a merit scholarship. Netra College has given meaning to my life. I would like to thank you all - the leadership, teachers, philanthropists and volunteers. Instead of showing sympathy for a perceived weakness, you believed in our potential, amplifying our strengths! Society typically has doubts about how the visually challenged youth can survive in this world. But we are able to overcome life’s challenges under the umbrella of your care and support. Any achievement i s possi bl e wit h your encoureamge nt. Because of you, I am encouraging all the visually challenged students to join Netra and dispel darkness with education. As there are seven wonders of the world, there are seven wonders in my life - Mother, Father, Teacher, Lecturers, Friends, Books, and all of you kind souls who are empowering us through your support for VT Seva.

  • Battle Against Cancer - News

More Women Healthcare Camp Videos Big News - Revolutionizing the Women Health Care (Prevention and Early detection of Cancer) and multiplying the positive impact Taking inspiration from the women health camps conducted by VT Seva's sister organization in India - Vikasa Tarangini Mahila Arogya Vikas for past decade impacting close to a million women through 900 camps for free, a Government Order (G.O) got issued by Telangana State Minister of Labour, Employment,Women and Child Development Mr. Malla Reddy on 3rd June 2019, Monday, 10 AM in Sriramnagar (Muchintal, Shamshabad) in presence of the VT women health camp visionary and humanitarian Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Government Secretaries and honorable officers. This Government Order (GO) enables Vikasa Tarangini Mahila Arogya Vikas, Telangana State Government, Women and Child Welfare Ministry to collaborate and conduct health camps all over the state of Telangana, multiplying the positive impact of saving lives. All the VT leaders and volunteers of VT Mahila Arogya Vikas were invited to this great milestone. It is a proud moment for VT Seva as we have been supporting close to 100 women health camps every year and have recently sponsored Mobile Diagnostic bus and 3 Digital Colposcopes (PayPal grant) to aid our camps. Challenge If the women are healthy then the whole family will be safe and the society will flourish. In India, one in ten cancer related deaths are cervical, we want to identify these in early stages and improve chances of survival and give women a second chance to lead happy life. In India, out of all the cancer diagnoses, 22.86 percent are cervical cancer cases. Rural women are at higher risk for undetected cervical cancer because of the stigma that is prevalent in villages about seeking medical help concerning women’s health. Objectives Early detection of cervical cancer among women who are marginalized because of poverty. Providing required assistance to direct detected cancer cases for further medical or surgical procedures. Awareness programs about women’s health and wellness. Education programs to self-identify signs and symptoms for different types of cancers. Approach Step-1: We start with door-to-door canvasing to bring awareness on health, hygiene, during interactions, we will make sure not to use “Cancer” as people tend to shy away and get scared to divulge personal details. During the survey process, our volunteers assess the health of the person and advise them to attend a FREE Medical camp going to be conducted nearby their residence. Duration of the survey depends on the number of families living in that neighborhood, it may take a week to complete the Survey. We schedule the surveys in such a time that, women are available to talk and open-up to answer questions about their personal health conditions. By the end of this step, we have good understanding of how many women should undergo screening and how we should get ready for the Medical Camp. Step-2: Our team of volunteers include Doctors; Para medical staff and support staff. Often we partner with local doctors, pharmacies to augment our volunteers. We have a defined methodology in conducting the camp. Women, that participated in survey (Step-1) bring their registration sheets, basic examination is followed by colposcopy and VIA tests; Women are shown reports then and their using monitors. Consultation and medicines are provided as required. We handhold them throughout the process– including further diagnosis if required. Beneficiaries In India, out of all the cancer diagnoses, 22.86 percent are cervical cancer cases. Rural women are at higher risk for undetected cervical cancer because of the stigma that is prevalent in villages about seeking medical help concerning women’s health. Many women lack awareness about regular checkup and menstrual hygiene. As many of them are illiterate, what they see what they believe. That is why, using digital colposcope customized by our organization, we show them the cervix on a monitor while performing the cervical examination. Unique experience and expertise makes us best positioned to meet the objective. We have started this project in 2007, we have raised awareness to 946,908 people , conducted 952 women health camps successfully, i.e. close to 80 camps every year. On average, each survey brings awareness to 1000 women and each camp screens 150 women. 228,469 women have taken Cervical Cancer screening tests (with Colposcope) since then and 6325 had biopsy tests. 483 women were survived with early detection of Cervical Cancer and 215 with breast surgeries; This has brought change in lives of thousands of families. Majority of them are below the poverty line. It gives immense satisfaction when they speak about their recovery. We have documented case studies of many beneficiaries and testimonials are available on our website in form of videos and reports. Our Team and Collaboration Our team of volunteers include Doctors; Para medical staff and support staff. Often we partner with local doctors, pharmacies to augment our volunteers. We collaborate with “Anganwadi workers” to conduct survey and medical camp in their area. Indian Government has developed an Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme in 1975 to curb the high infant and maternal mortality, under this scheme a trained person is allotted for every 1000 people, This Anganwadi person is responsible for bridging the gap between individuals and organized Health care. There are 2 Million Anganwadi workers who has access to 70 Million India population that need either one or the other type of medical support. These are most important and often ignored essential ink of Indian Health Care. We leverage them to the core and support them in improving their area. They play very active role in taking us to the people. Going with them gives confidence for the people of that area to share their health problems openly. We also collaborate with local leaders who has through understanding of their community who need health services. We collaborate with Govt and Private Doctors to support us during camps; We involve local pharma drug stores to secure medicines and clinical equipment. We work with corporates, Multi-National companies, some business units, project teams participate in conducting camps as part of their outreach / CSR activities. Summary In summary, we reaching the masses is the key, if you don’t reach them they don’t bother to take care of themselves; If we don’t address it in early stages we reduce chances of survival rate; Detecting and addressing the problems early will make more families happy and makes whole society happy. Contributing to a happy society is what we want to achieve. This is where our organization plays key role in using digital colposcopes and customizing them for clear examination of cervix and detecting abnormal conditions in early stages. Join US VT Seva conducts annual Cancer Awareness Walkathons/Runs throughout US to support local communities and also to raise funds for sponsoring an average of 100 women health camps in India per year, mobile diagnostic bus, procuring medical equipment such as digital colposcopes and medicines. We have great support from local communities in US where thousands of people, especially youngsters, oncologists, socially responsible corporations such as NVidia, LinkedIn, Boston Scientific, PayPal in enabling us to save lives. You can sponsor a camp by clicking here . With a donation of $500, you can organize a camp in your village or town. Depending on the number of people attending camp, medicines required and number of staff engaged, the camp may cost $1000 or more.

  • Overcoming women's health stigmas with a positive step

“Communities and countries and ultimately the world are only as strong as the health of their women.” – Michelle Obama My name is Sriram Vennamaneni and I have been a volunteer for VT Seva Dallas for about 10 years. Throughout my time at VT Seva, I have been involved in numerous activities, but one that resonates with me, in particular, is women's health. Across the globe, women are stigmatized and shunned due to issues over their health and well-being. Topics that should be ordinary, such as questions about hygiene, menstrual events, and related subjects are often tabooed and ignored by many. This causes women to remain silent when faced with health-related problems, leading to the progression and growth of diseases, such as cancer, and poor sanitary health. This issue is extremely prevalent in many parts of the world, including developing countries like India, where poor sanitation, awareness, and lack of resources are rampant. To combat this problem, VT Seva has conducted multiple cancer screening camps for breast and cervical cancer, hosted educational sessions about women's health, and raised funds for the creation of mammograms and VIA tests, impacting around 2 million women across India. The scale on which VT Seva reached out to women, even from rural areas, inspired me to take up a project through VT Seva Mahila Arogya Vikas (MAV) and do my part in improving women's health. Research studies indicate that enabling women with proper prevention measures can prevent 30% of cancer cases. Avoiding risk factors, such as a lack of menstrual hygiene and usage of cancer-causing sanitary pads can go a long way in saving lives. I would like to procure low-cost and bio-friendly manufacturing equipment to make high-quality sanitary pads. The pads manufactured by MAV will be distributed to women from slum areas and underprivileged students who cannot afford to buy them. MAV will employ local women to supervise the machine and distribute the products, offering a stable job and income to them. On the occasion of World Cancer Day - Feb 4th, 2023, I am launching this project to raise awareness and funds for this cause. As a volunteer from the age of 5, I have supported multiple cancer screening camps, impacting thousands of women. This cause motivated me to be consistent year after year regarding caring for women's health. I am taking the first step for this project by pledging the money I saved from gifts over the years from my friends and family. I request everyone to kindly donate to this important cause and help impact a life today. I plan to visit India this summer and it would be great if this goal can be reached by June 15th, 2023. I will keep you regularly posted on all the updates of this project.

  • Halloween Candy Donation to US army troops by VT Seva Dallas

Martin Luther King Jr said that “Life’s most persistent question is ‘what are you doing for others?’”. VT Seva Dallas’s Halloween Initiative aimed to spread compassion and kindness in the community by helping provide for those in need. The Halloween Initiative was a youth driven event and served as a candy drive, where volunteers cumulatively collected as much candy as possible to later give to army troops, as well as help raise money for visually challenged children. This year was the first time VT Seva’s Dallas branch held an event like this, but were able to raise over 600$ for the visually challenged children, and over a 1000lbs of candy to US army troops with the help of “Soldier’s Angels”. Not only did this benefit them, but it also benefited children whose families participated in the event. Children love candy, and by donating what you love most, you learn both kindness and compassion. The event inspired many community members outside VT Seva to do something for the community, and play their small role in making the world a better place A big thank you to Lucky Teeth, Viva dental, and Kraus Orthodontics who participated in the candy buy back program this year. A few pictures from our Halloween Candy Donation Project Here's the video from Viva Dental appreciating VT Seva for their huge candy donation. In words of youth volunteers who participated in the Halloween Candy Donation - "As I put the candy in a basket to give to the kids, I was glad that I was doing it for a great cause. I felt good as I dropped each piece of candy one by one, knowing that I was helping kids not as lucky as me. Thank you VT Seva for this wonderful experience and opportunity!" - Rishika Cheela "When I donated this candy to help the underpri vileged, I felt better than in the past when I just kept it all for myself. It was proof that helping others can be more satisfying than doing things for yourself. Thank you VTSeva for this opportunity to support education for the underprivileged." - Karthikeya Vattem "While collecting candy, it made me happy to know that we would be helping underprivileged kids. I'm very happy to know that the donation event was a success. Thank you VTSeva for this experience, and I can't wait for the next events!" - Adithi Vattem “I felt really good about the Halloween initiative as it was nice to know that my trick or treating had a bigger purpose behind it. I’m happy that I was able to help kids and have fun at the same time.” - Purushottam Koduri "As I dropped off the candy at the site I felt really good as I knew I was helping the lives of kids that had no way to go out and get it themselves. Whenever I donate food it is for a great cause and I would really like to thank VTSeva for this opportunity!" - Gopal Koduri "Knowing that these donations will be used to impact the lives of so many children was what inspired me to participate in this noble cause. I feel proud that I was able to make a difference in those childrens’ lives and make them feel more included in our community" - Shreyas Viswanathan "I felt happy that so many people donated candy from Halloween to our cause to buy equipment for the visually challenged kids. I also felt happy because I was making a healthier choice by getting rid of all the candy I don’t want or need." - Veeksha Chigurupati "I am so grateful and thankful that there is an organization like VTSEVA to provide me with this amazing opportunity to help those in need. I started by spreading the word about VTSEVA’s Halloween donation to my friends. They were so kind as to participate in the donation and donated most of their candy that they collected to our donation box. I went trick or treating with my friends and my mom and I collected as much candy as I could so I could donate it to VTSEVA. I ended up pouring my whole bag of candy in our donation box and I actually felt so happy doing it because I knew all my candy was going to a good cause. All in all, the Halloween initiative was a great initiative to start and hopefully we have more like this throughout the year. Thank you for providing me with this opportunity, I am so thankful for VTSEVA!" - Shriya Aviur "I felt amazed on how much candy we collected and surprised to know how much candy goes to waste every year. I am glad we made good use of it to help the underprivileged kids. Thank you VTSeva for this opportunity to help the society." - Sahasra Produtor "When I donated the candy, I was happy to know that the candy I got would make multiple underprivileged kids happier. Thank you VT Seva for the opportunity to help the underprivileged kids." - Suhavi Tiruveedhula

  • VT Seva Detroit Youth Board Waste Water Treatment Plant Tour

‘’The way to bring about change is to be proactive and active ‘’ - Octavia Spencer The VT Seva Detroit Youth Board conducted its first waste water treatment plant tour in Ann Arbor, MI on 4/16/2023 with 25 youth and adult volunteers participating. It was such an interesting and eye-opening tour about what it takes to treat water that we consume and waste every day and the resources it takes to run the facility and amount of water that's treated each day. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟖𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝟏𝟖 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲! Kyle , who is the supervisor there, guided the tour of a facility. He explained the full process very well and answered all of our questions clearly. It was amazing to see how waste water becomes clean water again. The whole process takes over 24 hours. After the tour, Kyle presented a slide show and went over more of the technical details. A huge thanks to Kyle and Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant for giving us this opportunity! This tour did leave an impact on each one of us about how much water gets wasted every day and how many resources are needed to clean it again. Everyone who participated decided to make a change in their everyday routine to consume water more consciously. Youth Volunteer Reflections: I will not flush any disposable wipes as it will increase the amount of solids in the waste water. I will also not let water running when washing my hands, cleaning bowls, taking a bath (will not bathing for a long time), and not wasting water in general. I will also tell my friends about this and limit the water usage! – Deekshitha Ravu I will change myself by limiting the water usage whenever I am taking a bath. – Hajanthan Muhinthan I will try to take shorter showers to reserve water - Hrudya Kishore One thing that we should change is to avoid polluting the water and dumping waste into it. We need to use biodegradable and eco-friendly things. – Nidhi Rao I will take shorter showers to save water and reduce wastage – Oviya Jaisankar I was able to see a real world example of all 3 forms of science(chemistry, biology, and physics) and how they work in order to clean the water we use. I was able to take away that we need to be more mindful of what we put down our drains, as the smallest things can make the biggest impact in terms of sustainability. – Rishi Adduri I learned today is that we should use wet wipes because they aren't really biodegradable and will stop using them – Shruthi Adduri I would make sure to limit the amount of water I use. – Vahini One thing I will change is not disposing anything that I think is not biodegradable and may affect the wastewater treatment process, such as wipes. – Varshan Muhinthan I will try to be more conscious in daily my water use, like taking shorter showers and not leaving on the water when brushing my teeth. - Veeksha *************************** One of our parent volunteer Mr. Ranga Rao, captured all the technicalities in detail, so that any one can understand the process Wastewater Treatment. It is a process to remove waste materials from the wastewater (household, industrial and commercial), and the clean water can be used or returned into the regular water cycle. Whatever the waste removed from the sewage can be sent to landfill or the waste handling storage facility. This process involves multiple stages: 1. Bar screening. It is a preliminary level of filtration, being installed at the influent to a wastewater treatment plant. The simplest bar screens only have vertical bars that let water pass through while stopping big objects. It is a filtration process used to remove large objects, such as cloths, diapers, wipes and big metals and plastics from wastewater. 2. Grit chambers. Grit chambers are long narrow tanks that are designed to slow down the flow so that solids such as sand, coffee grounds, and eggshells will settle out of the water. Settled down solid material can be removed easily. 3. Primary clarification. It is a physical treatment process of removing solids, oil and grease materials before biological treatment. After the grit chamber process, water enters the clarifier tank and floatable solids (scum) are removed from the surface by skimmers while settleable solids (sludge) are collected on the bottom by a rake and removed via a sludge removal system. 4. Secondary treatment. This process is performed by Bacteria and Protozoa in a managed aerobic or anaerobic process depending on the treatment technology. Bacteria and Protozoa consume biodegradable soluble organic contaminants (e.g., sugars, fats, and organic short-chain carbon molecules from human waste, food waste) from the sewage water. In this process air is pumped into the water. 5. Disinfection of Wastewater. Ultraviolet light (UV), Chlorination, Ozone, and Chloramines are primary methods for disinfection of wastewater. UV light irradiation of wastewater would change the microorganism's DNA and they will not produce any harmful chemicals. After the UV light treatment, water can be safely released into the rivers. • Atlanta Plastic Reduction Drive & Best From Waste

We're proud to announce that Atlanta VT Seva celebrated World Earth Day by making a difference in the lives of those in need. We organized a project to create plastic sleeping mats for homeless people using recycled plastic bags. Our event at the East Roswell Library saw a fantastic turnout of 40 VT Seva youth and adults from Atlanta. Our volunteers collected plastic bags from their homes and neighbors to create comfortable sleeping mats for those who are experiencing homelessness. In addition to making a difference in the community, our participants shared their views on how to reduce plastic pollution and make the best out of waste. It's inspiring to see so many young people take action and work towards a cleaner, healthier planet. We're proud of the hard work and dedication of our Atlanta VT Seva team, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in our community.

  • Novi Police Department Appreciation Lunch

VT Seva Detroit 2023: Novi Police Department Appreciation Lunch followed by Tour of the facility "Law enforcement officers are never 'off duty.' They are dedicated public servants who are sworn to protect public safety at any time and place that the peace is threatened. They need all the help that they can get." In order to commemorate the National Police Week, during May 15 – May 22, VT Seva Detroit organized a Police Appreciation lunch with a meet & greet and a short tour of the Novi Police Department on May 13th, 2023. VT Seva has always appreciated America’s law enforcement departments in keeping us safe and their endless sacrifices to protect our community. Officer Meyer & Officer Jusino welcomed us warmly and thanked us for the appreciation lunch we provided for them. As a token of appreciation, VT Seva Detroit also handed a ‘Plaque’ and appreciation ‘Thank You’ framed poster to the officers as well as Statue of Equality Memento. In turn, both the officers were appreciative of VT Seva’s community services and all the activities we do to uplift the needy people locally and internationally. Right after that we began the tour of the facility with Officer Meyer leading our way and Officer Jusino backing us up to ensure that all of us are in the group throughout the tour. They walked us through the holding cells, arraignment area, dispatcher area, Sergeant’s office, Lieutenant’s office, Briefing area, Conference Room, Parking area, Garage for repairs, Training room, Records area, Officer Cubicles, Mailrooms, Gym, and Lunch area. The officers were so kind to explain various areas of functions within their department right from the Records Clerk to Dispatch, Sergeant Training Camps, Detectives, School Resource officers, SONIC, DEA, Traffic and On-the-road officers, Property officers and much more. Our Youth and Adult Volunteers had many AMAZING questions for the officer regarding the Police department’s public relations with the community, law enforcement methods, the equipment and firearms the officers carry, what it takes to be a Police Officer, how the officers determine their reactions to adverse situations, various promotional opportunities to move up the ranks in their department, difference between State and City Police departments, their Benefits and Pay, and so many more interesting topics of discussion that gave us all a broad understanding of how the department works and how much it takes to keep all of us safe and sound. We had great participation today from VT Seva Detroit. Couple of our Youth volunteers explained all the activities and community services we do to benefit the underprivileged people locally and internationally. Both the officers admired the fantastic efforts of our organization. These are our volunteers who attended Youth: Amogh Mavatoor, Rishabh Mavatoor, Yathi Shekar Debbata, Hajanthan Muhinthan, Aditi Jethri, Abisrishti Ram, Jishnu Kandalam, Sohan Kancharla, Nikhil Aerabati, Rakshan Samynathan, Nemish Debbata, Sathvik TirumalaKanduri.
