VT Seva CEO Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami was honored โ€˜ Uthama Nagarika Sanman โ€™ from the Government of Nepal for the yeoman services rendered to country of Nepal. Mr. Jeevan Ghimire, Minister of Education and Social Development and Mr. Bhim Parajuli, Mayor of Viratnagar presented the award. During the occasion, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji inaugurated the Biography of the Prime Minister of Nepal Lt. Mr. Sriman Nagender Prasad Rijal. GLIMPSE OF OUR SERVICES IN NEPAL Provided 5000+ tents and blankets as immediate relief for Nepal Earthquake relief, re-built a permanent school ''Nandi Secondary School" in Naxal, Kathmandu, Nepal with about $170,000 (USD) for the children and houses for the victims Blood Donation Camps for past 10 years at Purano Baneshwor Height, Kathmandu, Nepal Women Health Camps in Kathmandu and Bharatpur for Cancer Screening (VIA) and Eye Checkups Trauma Relief Camps for the Orphan Children who lost parents in the violent fight between Nepal Army and Maoists Free clean drinking water distribution camps in multiple areas of Kathmandu, Nepal Youth led Community Service events in local community, Kathmandu, Nepal When the massive earthquake struck Nepal in April 2015 and caused widespread destruction and suffering, more than seven thousand people lost their lives, cities and towns have been destroyed and tens of thousands of people have been rendered homeless. VT Seva CEO Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji reached Nepal on April 30th, 2015 to survey the affected areas and get firsthand information about the devastation. He enquired about the destruction, what the major problems are and which places are the most affected. Due to heavy rains and landslide, there were no proper sanitation and shelter facilities. After initial screening of the place and discussing with the locals, He felt that the immediate needs are tents & blankets to provide shelter and restrooms to provide sanitation. He then discussed with the team about the immediate needs and formulated a plan of action. While VT Nepal volunteers are working in the grass root levels to help the victims, VT Seva & JET USA have set a target of $150,000 (We exceeded it by raising ~$170,000) that would be used towards helping the affected and in rebuilding the destroyed towns and cities. All our teams through out the US have sprung into action to raise funds for the cause. Very encouraging sign is that many young volunteers of VT Seva did door to door campaigns, set up awareness booths and came up with many creative ideas in reaching out and engaging one and all for helping the brothers and sisters of Nepal. After receiving the award, Sri Swamiji said, โ€˜Whatever the value of this award is, please use it to build a good school that inculcates and teaches children not only science and technology, but also DHARMA and MORAL from our ancient wisdom. Let the children not be raised as mere machines!โ€™ Such genuine gesture that every single one gave STANDING OVATION! Government officials accepted the proposal and the city is hopeful for happier, good hearted and intelligent children !

  • VT Seva Detroit Cultural Event for Army Welfare Fund

VT Seva Detroit organized a cultural event for the Army Welfare fund with an underlying theme of patriotism. Our team was able to organize this meaningful event in less than a month. This was a highly successful event with a turnout of more than 180 people in attendance. This event took place at Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple on March 30th from 3 PM to 6 PM. There were more than 70 participants, that sang, danced and spoke on patriotism. The highlight of the event was certainly the Hrudhwani, an Indo-fusion band that performed on many popular patriotic songs. Lastly, we would like to thank each and every volunteer that helped out with the event. This event would not have been successful without any of them!
